the three most important traits a baseball Team President/GM can have.
1. Talent evaluation skills
2. Lack of Fear/refer to this as balls..
3. Capacity to engender trust from other smart people.

Detroit Tigers Scott Harris: ?We pressed the button on Parker (Meadows) because we think he can help us in all facets of the game. There are several players in Toledo right now that are knocking on the door. We don?t think those guys are quite ready yet.?

Do you think that if Harris was in charge at the beginning of last year that he would have put Spencer Torkelson on the Opening Day roster after only a year in the minors? We all know the answer to that one.

Totally Tigers

Player development isn't one-size-fits-all.
The Mud Hens are embracing the learning curve and competition to get the little things right.

Tiger with way to many strike outs. We just don?t put the ball in play as much as other clubs.

Baez stands to far off the plate. That last pop soft line out to ss is a single if he is 2-5 inches closer to the plate. This is just my opinion. He must be gun shy about being hit.
He is so far off the plate.

Wish tiger hitters would go with the pitch. Out the damn ball in play. 15 strikeouts is ridiculous.

Astros 9 - Tigers 2: Sometimes it?s just not your night.
The pitching wasn?t great and the hitters couldn?t do a lot. At least the new guy got another pair of hits, though, which is nice.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

Many of the discussions this year in baseball have been about the AL Central. In particular, how it is MLB?s worst division and filled with failure and ineptitude according to a recent national article. In past years, it?s always been known as baseball?s weakest division.

The best team this year is only 5 games above .500. The rest have more losses than wins with the team in second place 7 games under .500.

As a Tigers fan, is this division a blessing or a curse?

Is the division title easier to get or is it simply a recognition that doesn?t mean much outside of the Central?

Does the mediocrity and payrolls of the other teams influence what the Tigers do?

Do the other 4 teams inspire the Tigers to build a roster that will perform at the top of MLB or simply give ownership the excuse to do only as much as needed?

What do you think?

Today?s blog addresses this dilemma and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!

For this one blog only, you?ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts. Of course, you can also respond to other readers.

TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.
Ready?

How do you feel about the AL Central as it pertains to the Tigers?

1. It helps them.

2. It hurts them.

Teams in ALC are Midwest teams. They generally don't spend as much as top teams in other divisions. From time to time its going to be a sucky division. Why don't people understand this. All 5 teams are below average in payroll.

Tigers need a 3rd baseman badly.

I think they have these in house options for next year

1 Vierling - doesn't have the bat
2 Keith - may not be ready and could be their choice for 2B
3 Malloy - may not be ready and his defense isn't good enough

They may have to go outside of the organization for this one
