Tigers vs. braves Game Thread April 28

Good win. Love seeing Papa get it together. Still going to scare the shit out of me in October, but I'll try to enjoy the ride until then.

Tigers beat Atlanta 8-3 to sweep interleague series. Tigers outscored Braves 25-7, and pitchers struck out 39 in three games.

that first pitch made me cringe, they knew fastballs were coming. got it done anyways, potato is still living dangerously.

great win, great series! someone let me know when vids are up from the game so i can watch highlights lol.

Maybe Fister hitting all these batters is him becoming that "dirtball" Leylands always wanted.

Doug Fister becomes the 6th Tigers pitcher in the past 90 years to finish April 4-0 or better.

Bottom part of order has been big in the 4W on homestand - 6-9 hitters have reached 31 times in the 4G. Infante sizzling - 12-25 last 6G, 2HR.

Tigers Cabrera on pitchers strikeouts: That's good. We don't worry about defense too much. They do our job. We focus on hitting (laughs).

Cabrera HR on 3-0 pitch was real rarity - he'd put 12 3-0 pitches in play in career (267PA, b-ball ref), hit 1HR...HR tonite was LD to RF.

Leyland on Hunter: "He's doing so good, I'm going to give him off tomorrow." (was already planned; he'd mentioned it the other day).

Cabrera HR was #324 in career, ties him with Gary Carter and Lance Parrish on all-time list, next one ties him with Willie Horton and J. Dye.

Tigers now 8-3 at home, avging 7R/G...win puts them at 13-10, half-game behind Royals.
twinks come in for 3 starting Monday night.

Hope we crush the twinks after how they played the Tigers in the season-opening road series. I will truly relish every game that is like any one in this past series vs the braves.

I liked watching the game with the ESPN broadcast for a change of pace. It was nice to hear some non-biased commentary about some of the Tiger's players. I loved the comment by Kruck when Miggy had the 3-0 count. "you better not throw a fastball down the middle or it will be a 3 run HR" then 5 seconds later....BOOM!

yeah Kruk nailed that one.

Per ESPN, Sunday night's Tigers-Braves game got a 12.1 rating in Detroit, the 2nd-higest rated regular-season MLB game for ESPN in Detroit.
The highest-rated ESPN MLB broadcast in the Detroit market was also a Braves-Tigers matchup, back in June 2007, bringing a 12.4

Lotsa Atlantan/Georgian/Southern transplants and/or their children-grandchildren still living in SE MI, apparently. I knew a couple kids who were braves fans from Atlanta myself as a young boy, albeit during the summers in NW lower MI, where they spent their summer school vacation living with their aunt and grandmother,
