Tigers are 7 and 7 for the month of May. Hinch and Fetters effect??

Texas started 7 players hitting over .250 and 6 players who could be part of their core 2 years from now...Detroit started one hitting over .250 and one who could be part of their core..Texas has been rebuilding for 2 years and has a new GM..Detroit has been doing this for 6 years and has Avila.

It?s time to revisit the last week of baseball from Monday through Sunday. What stood out for our two bloggers? What do we need to keep our eyes on going forward?

Four observations apiece and just 2 sentences to identify each of them. As always, answers aren?t shared ahead of time so let?s see how similar ? or how different ? Kurt and Holly are in their responses.

Michael Fulmer has permitted a .573 OPS over 10 relief appearances. Last night in Seattle, he improved to 3-for-3 in save opportunities. He's becoming a great story for the Tigers.

Was it really that surprising to see 3 catchers playing for the Detroit Tigers last night? Ramos at DH probably because he just came off the IL. Haase playing LF probably to help find a solution for the offensive struggles of Jones, Baddoo and Reyes. Haase did hit 2 HRs.

A. J. Hinch did warn players that they would need to "fight for playing time" and that positions weren't guaranteed. Time will tell if a little competition inspires players to up their game.

Fulmer has been a very pleasant surprise.
