U.S. Army Spc. Chris Johnson of South Lyon will deliver tonight's Tigers game ball. Earned a Combat Medical badge among 4 commendations.
Home sweet home. The Tigers are hitting .308 w/129 runs scored and 31 home runs over the past 21 games at Comerica Park.
Has Delmon Young officially been booted from the fifth spot in the Detroit Tigers' lineup? It appears so.
A couple weeks ago, manager Jim Leyland said he was going to bump Young to sixth when a left-hander was slated to start, but keep him at No. 5 against right-handers.
Well, that plan appears to have been tossed out the window.
Counting tonight, the Tigers will have faced two right-handed starters the past four games -- and Jhonny Peralta has hit fifth in both those games.
As a result, Young has batted fifth the past six games and 11 of his past 14 games this month. Jeff Baker will make his fourth start with the Tigers, who seek a fourth straight win overall and fourth in five games this season against the Baltimore Orioles.
Andy Dirks is -- again -- the left-handed hitting outfielder who gets the start. Brennan Boesch and Quintin Berry will both be available off the bench.
