Tigers vs. Rangers preview: Matt Manning looks to run the streak to six.
Armed with a radically improved slider, the Tigers top pitching prospect looks to settle in at the major league level.

Locked On Detroit Tigers Podcast: Five in a row for the Detroit Tigers, Al Avila comments, Matt Manning. 35 minutes.

The Detroit Tigers are still undefeated since the All Star break! Five wins in a row and Matt Manning pitching tomorrow. We also recap last nights game against the Texas Rangers and discuss the comments about selling at the deadline made by GM Al Avila.

Chris Illitch that little brother from a wealthy family no matter how many times he fails or does nothing..the PR machine keeps trying to varnish the rep..but the record ALWAYS speaks louder than the excuses..6 years..lots of last place finishes for both teams..

tons and tons of broken real estate promises..partners who backed out..and tax breaks needing attention because the covenants of performance were broken..its always about the resume with Chris..it always exposes the truth the PR can never hide..
Al Avila=MUTE..he makes me stress eat.

Hiring managers and coaches on the cheap never works out as we've seen historically with the Detroit Tigers. But what happens when you pay for top talent? We've got all the evidence.

With the report that A. J. Hinch and Chris Fetter are being consulted on how to develop the new draft talent, today's blog is even more relevant.

TALENT BEGETS TALENT.
Totally Tigers

Detroit Tigers' A. J. Hinch continues to work with the team beyond his role as manager. He and Chris Fetter were included in a meeting this week with numerous other Tiger personnel about the newest draft class.

They helped to develop individual plans for each of the newest pitchers going forward given the contraction of the minors leagues and a Covid-shortened season.

It bears repeating that other former managers and pitching coaches for Detroit were never involved in these types of meetings. Hinch has a background in overseeing a minor league system and player development for other teams.

Totally Tigers

What does Tigers? 2022 rotation look like without Spencer Turnbull? It?s not nearly as good.

It is a big loss. He has been very good over the past year. Almost need Manning to step up and sign a FA. I don't think Manning has enough quality pitches yet...he seems to rely on 2 which won't cut it at the ML level.

Robbie Grossman extends his on-base streak to a career-best 20 games with his 1st inning homer.

Additionally, Grossman has homered in back-to-back games for the fifth time in his career and 2nd time this season (last, June 9-10 vs. Seattle).

Short with a 2 run Homer,

Zack Short has five hits in July. Three of them are home runs, including a two-run drive to LF off Jordan Lyles tonight for a 3-1 Tigers lead,

Frustrating as Grossman should have caught that ball. Now Soto has to really work.
