Tigers vs. Rangers July 22, 2021 Game 98 1:00 PM start

I would say .500 is a sure thing, but that prior @Twins series plus Twins thumping ChiSox last night has me feeling uneasy. Still hopeful. Meanwhile Indians are vs Rays, have a chance to gain ground on them.

Now +6 @Home. With good fortune maybe they cut their -10 Road down to -5 or better very soon.

The Tigers have placed INF Isaac Paredes on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 20, with a right hip strain.
INF Willi Castro has been recalled from Triple A Toledo.
In 18 at-bats, Castro has put up a slash line of .444/.444/.722 with an OPS of 1.167 (8-for-18) with a homer.

A lot of unexpected stuff has happened this year. High on the list: It's July 22, Eric Haase is the everyday catcher and he just crushed his 15th home run of the season.

Matt Manning threw 15 sliders last night (if you believe Baseball Savant). A few of them were really sharp. Not easy to develop a pitch midseason. A.J. Hinch said he admires the conviction.
"That's hard to do while you're competing," Hinch said. "This is not instructional league."

If Illitch isn?t watching Yzerman take peoples lunch money to grasp what a real GM does .. than we are truly lost getting rid of Avila.

Catcher Jake Rogers (right forearm strain) will not be back in 2-3 weeks as originally hoped. Doctors have advised more rest. He'll be shut down for a while and then head to Lakeland for rehab. The hope is a late-season return in September, per manager A.J. Hinch.
A tough break for Jake Rogers and the Tigers. He'll need longer to recover from his pronator teres strain than first thought.

He won't be doing baseball activity for a while. He will head to Lakeland for rehab. A.J. Hinch hopes Rogers can make a late-season return.

7 wins in a row for the Tigers! If you were so inclined to fill this shot glass to celebrate the winning streak what would you fill this 1968 shot glass with?

The Tigers seven-game winning streak is the longest for the team since an eight-game run from July 25-August 3, 2016.

Detroit has a 38-27 (.585) record since May 8, 2021 - good for the fifth-best winning % in the American League over that span.

Tigers 7 - Rangers 5: Another series, another sweep.
The bullpen hung on to secure the Tigers? seventh straight victory, but was a little shaky at times.
