Austin Jackson is back with the Detroit Tigers and back in his familiar spot in the batting order.
Jackson will bat leadoff and start in center field Saturday afternoon when the Detroit Tigers play the second game of a three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds.
The Tigers reinstated Jackson from the disabled list early Saturday morning and will announce a corresponding move today prior to the game. The Tigers also placed shortstop Jhonny Peralta on the paternity list and recalled Hernan Perez from Single-A Lakeland to fill Peralta's spot.
Ramon Santiago will start at shortstop in place of Peralta. Danny Worth is starting at second base.
Justin Verlander (5-4, 2.67 ERA) will start on the mound for the Tigers. The Reds will start right-hander Bronson Arroyo (2-4, 3.91 ERA).
Just four Tigers hitters (including Peralta) have faced Arroyo. Prince Fielder is hitting just .238 (10-for-42) against the right-hander, but he does have four home runs, eight RBIs and seven walks. Gerald Laird is 1-for-5 against Arroyo, while Miguel Cabrera is 0-for-2.
from Mlive

Berry sits, hoping the Tigers lead late in the game and can sub for Young in left 7th/8th inning.

CLASH OF MVPs: Tigers' Verlander is 16-2 in interleague play while Reds' Votto has a .549 avg during 14-game hit streak. They've never faced each other.

Hitless in career, Justin Verlander plans to go yard in Cincy.

Tigers option Jose Ortega to Triple-A Toledo, as the back end of the move to bring Austin Jackson back.

We need a freaking laughter in one of Verlander starts. How about we win a game
11 to 2 for a change..

Hopefully Boesch yesterday is a sign he's heating up and not a fluke, because we need another big guy to produce runs other than Miggy and Prince, with half the roster being Mud Hens.

As I said a few days ago. It's June. For whatever reason, thats been his best month every year.

Ok boys get us in... My son called me on taking him and his friend to a R rated movie... So I guess I get to miss another Verlander start... Good news about that the last one i missed he almost got a No/no...( although i did pick it up in the 6th inning)...
Man we need a win bad!!!!!!!!l!!!!!!

Go tigers!!!!!!!

They send Ortega back down instead of Matt Young? wuhhh, WTF did they even bring Ortega up for in the first place then, gesssh Yet another :hmm: from whomever it is making these decisions.

Dude, this was a no brainer.

Ortega never should have been on the 40 man roster.

Matt Young still has value while we play in N.L. cities as utility PH/defense.

GameDay showed that was a strike anyways, whether the guy held up on the check swing or not he was K'd.

20 pitches for Verlander, most of them thrown to that heisey where the ump never made the called out on strikes call.

So they bring a guy up to blow a game for us then send him right back down, your right he never should have been brought up in the first place. Who is the dingleberry that makes these calls? Is that DD?

Was probably one of those "major league ready arms" he was talking about.

I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher with a straight leg kick like that as with Arroyo.

Beautiful, Santiago with a homerun to rightfield.
One batter after Dan and Jim weere talking about arroyo giving up 46 last year.

Hopefully Worth gets a double or triple next inning so JV can swing away and not have to bunt.
