Granted, Detroit Tiger Matthew Boyd is coming back from an injury but he is running out of time this year to prove that he is worth the money he is being paid. Boyd is the Tigers' second highest-paid player after Miggy.

He is currently making $6.5 mill this year and would earn an increase next year given that he's arb eligible. He is a free agent after 2022.

The Tigers need to decide if they are getting enough pitching given the salary or if Boyd's contributions can be replaced by someone making less. Conceivably, he could be non-tendered as the Tigers did with James McCann and Jose Iglesias.

It's been a 3-year gap since a Detroit Tiger hit 20 HRs in a season. Several days ago, Robbie Grossman did it. Last night, Eric Haase joined him.
