Five years ago, Drew Pomeranz played a small role in helping the Tigers acquire Doug Fister. Pomeranz was part of the Indians’ trade package that landed Ubaldo Jimenez from Colorado at the trade deadline in 2011, thus sending Detroit looking elsewhere for pitching help. The rest is history, but now Pomeranz has a chance to play another role in thwarting the Tigers around trading season.

Cameron Maybin will miss his second consecutive game after suffering a mild back injury, Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said.
Maybin hadn't missed a start in a month when he sat out the series finale Sunday in Chicago. Andrew Romine will again start in center field in place of Maybin for the series opener Monday night against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Ausmus said Maybin felt much better on Monday and his injury is not thought to be serious.

Fenway Park is a house of horrors for the Tigers. Hoping for the best this series, but expecting the worst.

Only Romine is hitting above .300 for the month of July. McCann, Aviles, Moya, V. Martinez and Saltalamacchia aren't even hitting .200 for the month. Add Collins and Iglesias to that list of players for those under .280 OBP for the month. All while the pitching has been pretty good, especially the starters.

Now Cy Pomeranz having his way with this lineup. Hit the damn ball already!

Hard to believe we are in 2nd place.

For July, we have been scoring only 3.7 Runs/Game and the pitching has been giving up 4.0 (3.79 ERA). Starters is 3.50 ERA. We are 10-10. We have only scored 5 runs or more in just 4 of the last 20 games. Given average run support, we should be 14 and 6 for July.

You're not going to score starting Aviles in the outfield along with an underperforming Upton. Take Maybin and JD out of the lineup you can expect that kind of production, figure in Miggy and Vmart struggling it's shocking we've won 10 games

I'm really sick of hearing Rod or Mario talk about how good Pelfrey is at getting double plays. the DP's are a result of 1, lots of runners on base, 2 being very hittable, not getting strikeouts

Have we scored yet game seemed boring on yhe radio then I changed the channel .

Shoot with the bottom 4 the tigers put out there game in game out. It's a wonder they win any game.

4-9 with McCann Starting

6-1 with Salty

I am not sure how much OFers make a difference. I do know catchers make a difference.

JV gets us 6 solid innings tonight of 1 run ball. That will/should be it for him with 110 pitches.

we're starting a RF with a .523 OPS, he doesn't even hit enough to warrant the last roster spot on the worst team in the majors.
