DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox had a pitchers' duel on Opening Day. They might have another one today.
Doug Fister and Josh Beckett are the starting pitchers today as the Tigers and Red Sox play the second game in a three-game series.
Fister is 1-2 with a 3.33 ERA in four career starts against the Red Sox. Beckett is 3-2 with a 2.50 ERA in his career vs. the Tigers.
Current Tigers players are hitting just .196 against Beckett, who is in his 12th season (seventh in the American League).
Delmon Young is hitting .357 (5-for-14) with three doubles against Beckett. Just two other Tigers players have more than six career at-bats against Beckett: Jhonny Peralta (.200, 4-for-20) and Miguel Cabrera (1-for-11, .091).
Prince Fielder has one hit -- a solo home run -- in three career at-bats vs. Beckett.

I read that, but DY should DH when Dirks plays. just like when Santiago in the lineup Raburn should DH. Like it was on opening day. The better defenders need to be playing the field when in the lineup.

Tigers getting their 2011 awards today in a pregame ceremony.
Verlander doesn't have enough arms to hold his awards.
Alex Avila, Prince Fielder getting their Silver Slugger awards, Valverde his Rolaids and GIBBY awards, and Verlander a handfull of loot,
(the list of JV's awards almost don't fit on the ginormous new video screen).
Cabrera also gets his trophy for the AL batting title,

It has to do with what lineup is used vs left and vs right and then fit the defensive pieces in..
