I had to post it.....at least for post game comments.

Verlander's greatness, despite getting squeezed all night by wally bell the home plate ump,

Jackson's leadoff homerun,

Cringe's homer, off a lefty,

wait binge hit a homer??? That could be good or bad. Musta flicked the wrist.

Inge won't hit another homer all season and will be at .195 at the all star break..

Really missed this site last night. Commenting on and reading the threads add something to the game for me and I was stuck posting on another site where there weren't as many rabid fans or knowledgeable fans.

Dramatic win and JV was great again.

Verlander through 3 starts:

2012
1-1, 25.1 IP, 23 Ks, 2.13 ERA

2011
1-1, 23.0 IP, 21 K, 3.13 ERA

2010
0-1, 17.0 IP, 15 K, 6.88 ERA

2009
0-2, 16.0 IP, 20 K, 7.88 ERA

2008
0-2, 19.1 IP, 19K, 6.52 ERA

This could be another monster year. I'd like to see him get a couple drama free easy wins soon to get comfortable.

Johnny2x, Thanks for posting JV's numbers, looks like bad Aprils are a thing of the past.

Verlander threw 120+ pitches 10X last yr.
Games after 120+ pitches: 79.2 IP, 47 H, 14 R, 11 ER, 13 BB, 77K.
His no-hitter is included in there.

Leyland to Verlander during visiit to mound in 9th inning of Tigers game: "You're going to get me fired."
Verlander to Leyland after Tigers game, a 3-2 victory over KC in which JV threw 131 pitches: "Sorry for getting your blood pressure up."

I'm all for riding Verlander, but maybe not in April. I love that the guy hates to come out, but I'd prefer he goes to the well down the stretch, not in the first few games.

Even for JV, there's a limit. I hope he's as effective in inning 250 as he is now.

How was he last season when he pitched 251 innings? There is a reason other starters can't do this because they're not acclimated to pitch that much. JV is. There is no limit for JV, as we've seen in his years here..

How was he in the playoffs? Well, not as sharp. Maybe it was the opposition hitters, though...or the weather or some other other wordly evildoer?

I don't see a pitcher effective for 250 innings just to lose it at 255 or 260. The rain messed up his mojo, shortened game and then another rain game on shortened rest..

I remember when Nolan Ryan starting working for Texas, he said he needed to stretch out his staffs arms. As he put it, you can't pitch deep into games on a regular basis unless you get use to it. Man, I bet Ryan loves JV.
