Tigers - royals Game Preview.

With the division crown already in hand, Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Monday he'd plan on letting Miguel Cabrera decide his status for the team's final two games.
On Tuesday, it appears Cabrera has decided to play.
With the coveted Triple Crown at stake, Cabrera will start at third base in Game 2 of the Tigers' three-game series against the Royals in Kansas City. First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m.
Cabrera leads the AL in all three Triple Crown categories -- making him the first player since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967 to lead every category this late in the season.

I hope Miggy comes away with a 3 hit game including a HR and just put all this nervousness about the Triple Crown behind him

That would be nice! I remember the last game of the year when Cecil needed one HR to get 50 and he hit 2.

I predicted he would hit 45, back then he was at like 39, he has 2 games to keep me from being a liar.

I like that Leyland is giving his role players a start, while keeping Cabrera and Fielder in to keep the Royals honest, but why not let Holaday catch, and Garcia DH?

I am pretty sure I said he wouldn't hit 40. I'm glad I was wrong!

I like that. Asking the franchise player: "What do you wanna do?". Leyland knows who saved his job. But then again, who doesn't know?

ESPN made it sound like they will show all of Miggy's at bats live the rest of the season.

Leyland said he called Cabrera earlier today to give him the option to DH one of these games. Cabrera wanted to play 3B.

Odd scene: Tigers owner Mike Ilitch happy in Jim Leyland's office after clincher, but still no contract extension. Your interpretation?

I might be imagining it but after his post game interview last night it sounded like he was leaving. But honestly don't believe it has anything to do with Ilitch. If Leyland wants to stay he will, imo.

Well Leyland said all along he'll worry about that stuff "after" the season.

I would not expect any kind of announcement until after the playoffs.

Leyland just said on the radio Prince playing 5 innings max tonight, and will DH tomorrow.

Cabrera probably won't play the full game tomorrow.

Every Miguel Cabrera at-bat is being carried live by MLBNetwork & MLB.com. #TripleCrown #Miggy4MVP

Cabby should get 7 more ABs this year, if he goes 0-7 he ends up with a .3264 BA. Trout currently is hitting .3249. If Cabby goes 0-7, Trout would need to go 4-9 to pass him or better to pass him.

Man, I just hope Cabby goes 3-4 tonight and it's out of reach. It will really suck if he gets passed by Trout on the last day of the season.

4-9 isn't easy. Doable but not easy. lets hope he goes at least 2 for 7.
