Need more proof that A. J. Hinch's influence w/the Detroit Tigers extends beyond the roster? In addition to taking part in the meeting to plan out the new draft players' development programs, he also was the person behind the hiring of Toledo's new pitching coach, Doug Bochtler.

Detroit Tigers' Akil Baddoo is not only having a great season but he's reached the levels required for being in the running for AL Rookie of the Year. He ranks first (through Wed. games) in OPS and stolen bases. Comes in #2 in slugging % and walk rate. Sits at #3 in BA and OBP.

With Rogers out, Eric Haase becomes the starting catcher. The Tigers bought him for cash last year and he only played 7 games. DFA'd less than a year later and resurrected by Hinch and Co. Near the top in some offensive categories and also playing 3 positions.

Defensive was for sure. Just need to get his batting average up to something respectable. Can?t keep hitting .185. There was a reason Mayo smith replaced Ray Oyler in the 1968 Ws with center fielder Mickey Stanley.

Absolutely, but players still have to perform and giving all the praise to the coaches is unfair.

Right now his stats say he is just a platoon player or later inning defensive replacement. He does have a .382 obp verses lhp. Hopefully his power continues. He struggled tonight.
