Tigers No. 17 prospect per MLB Pipeline INF/OF Kody Clemens has been recalled from Triple A Toledo.

Kody Clemens will be the Tigers 6th player to make their major league debut. (Torkelson, Brieske, De Jesus, Rodriguez, Wentz, Faedo).

After a pair of rehab games with Lakeland, OF Riley Greene has been activated from the Triple A Toledo injured list.
He will join the Mud Hens in Columbus.
In a corresponding move, OF Robbie Grossman has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a neck strain.

Casey Mize began playing catch in Lakeland today, A.J. Hinch said.

LHP Tyler Alexander and RHP Will Vest are each scheduled to begin an injury rehab assignment with Triple A Toledo tonight at Columbus.

Baez has a hell of a glove at short, but I bet Tork has saved him a minimum of a half dozen errors with his glove at 1st. That guy is a picking machine. Very underrated defensive player.
 
Tork has the worst dwar on team, though flawed he's also below average with the better DRS (Defensive Runs Saved). Can't find UZR and UZR/150.

Defensive metrics are the worst. If you've watched enough games then it's obvious that he's a plus defender at 1st.
 
Defensive metrics are lacking compared to other stats. Additionally, there seems to be wide disparity between one year to the next. Some of that is based on makeup of pitching staffs (groundball pitchers vs flyball) and a team's incorporation of "shifts". Basically all plays where there was a shift is ignored or lessened. True indications are gleaned when you increase the sample rate (multiple years or as the season goes on).

UZR/150, based on 250 Innings played:

1B = Tork = 1st of 20 players
2B = Schoop =2nd of 20 players
SS = Baez = 24th of 26 players
3B = Candy = 15th of 20 players


DRS, based on 250 Innings played:

1B = Tork = 19th of 20 players
2B = Schoop = 3rd of 20 players
SS = Baez = 8th of 26 players
3B = Candy = 16th of 20 players


A couple of point about DRS. It has larger "buckets" than UZR/150. Meaning the area in which they think a fielder should make a play is bigger. Also, DRS for outfielders includes "HR Saving Catches". Which in front of the Green Monster, is impossible. So a LFer from Boston will never lead the league in DRS.

There is NO UZR for Catchers, but there is DRS. As a rule, I prefer UZR/150 over DRS because of the biases DRS tends to exhibit.

I haven't watched too many Tigers games this year, maybe 10, but from what I have seen, Baez is over rated and Tork appears rally good. But, like I said...I haven't seen too many games.
 
I've seen both make incredible plays. Baez throws are a bit off but it sometime relates to the play he makes at short.
