Tigers vs. twins Game Preview.

Justin Verlander will try to stop the two-game bleeding as the Detroit Tigers ace takes the mound in Game 3 of a four-game set against the visiting Minnesota Twins.
Verlander had his three-start winning streak snapped when he gave up four runs and a season-high three homers in six innings of a 4-2 loss at Tampa Bay on Friday. Now, he'll try to snap the Twins' five-game win streak.
With Twins left-hander Brian Duensing scheduled to start tonight, Tigers manager Jim Leyland has penciled in Ryan Raburn at No. 2 in the lineup, spelling Quintin Berry in left field.
"He's done a little bit better," Leyland said. "I'm not playing Berry tonight, that's why he's hitting second. Get another righty up there.
Since being recalled from Triple-A Toledo on June 14, Raburn is hitting .289 (11-for-38) with five extra-base hits, including an RBI double Tuesday night.
"We got two lefties toward the end, that's not great against this guy because he's pretty good against lefties. We're going to try to get those guys on for the big guys."
Alex Avila will make his fifth straight start behind the plate, batting eighth in front of second baseman Ramon Santiago, who rounds out the order.
Leyland said Avila will receive a day off Thursday and expects Gerald Laird to catch one of the team's three games against Kansas City before the All-Star break.
Coming off his first three-hit game since June 8, Boesch is back in the lineup, batting eighth and starting in right.
"He had a real good game," Leyland said. "Hopefully he can keep it going. He swung the bat extremely well last night and hopefully it’ll give him some confidence."
Brayan Villarreal, Jose Duane Below are unavailable tonight are combining to throw seven innings in Tuesday's bullpen start.

Today marks the start of five straight games against left-handed starters heading into the break for the Tigers. Expect to see a lot of Ryan Raburn for the rest of the week. He’s batting second tonight against Brian Duensing, with Quintin Berry getting the night off. Brennan Boesch stays in after his three-hit game last night.
On the Twins side, if the last two nights are a sign that the old Joe Mauer is back, then expect some very good at-bats between him and Justin Verlander. Mauer is 20-for-51 (.392) off Verlander with three doubles, three home runs and 10 walks off Verlander, including 6-for-14 the last two years. They haven’t met this year because Verlander hasn’t faced the Twins yet.

while cle and chw beat up on the angels and tex....were in the process of getting swept by the twins. Its too late in the season to keep making excuses....were just not a very good team for whatever the reason.

Looks like it's pouring at the ball park. Could be a lengthy delay.

Verlander says, "Enough of these shenanigans, sit the fuck down 1-2-3 punks."

Nice!

Everyone deep Prince drops a Texas League double blooper in to score two.

Thanks Delmon, we didn't want any more runs this inning anyways, you douche.

I just can't stand DY in the 5 hole.. I will bet he has killed the most rally's all season..

Verlander rolling.

Sure would be a nice night to get a shutout, followed by fireworks!

Radio just mentioned the Tigers 1 and 2 hitters, and 3 and 4 are all in the tops in avg. and obp.

Tigers 5 hitters (almost exclusively DY) and number 6 are DEAD LAST.

As bad as anyone on the team has been(Raburn, Boesch, Kelly/Worth/M. Young), the 5 hole is what's killing us.

I agree...DY has to go... Damn I hope the kid is ok that was a shot... Maybe we can get the new pitcher for some runs..
