Get StartedYes.I don't know what's worse, them doing nothing all game and have them do it in the 9th too, or them getting something going at the end and me getting my hopes up then crushed.
The Tigers are currently 26th in the league in runs scored.
Where is the offense?
Fielder, Peralta, Infante, Pena,
Also missing....Iglesias, Dirks, Tuiasosopo, etc, etc
And it really doesn't matter what so and so is currently hitting on this team or any other team. It is the same issue. We do not make the opposing starter to throw more pitches. First pitch swinging is the bane of this team.
IMO first pitch swinging is not the biggest issue, the biggest issue is an inability to make timely adjustments to,soft tossers, most of them just can't seem to square em up even after back to back games against soft tossers..the book on the tigers is keep the fastballs away and get em out with off speed...worked last year often and still working this year even more it would seem
My point is we do not drive the opposing pitch count up. And we do not take pitches. As a team, we are below average at taking walk and plate discipline.
2 straight walks (because the pitcher is actually wild) and the next guy is first pitch swinging, either popping out, fouling out to the catcher or grounds into a doubleplay. A rally killer, hence the term "bane".
So the players are either uncoachable or Wally Joyner is not instructing them to be more selective at the plate.
