Tigers vs. whitesox 6-03-16 Game 54

Right-hander Buck Farmer has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo and right-hander Shane Greene, who had a blister on his right middle finger, will be activated from the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturday?s game.

Before Friday's game, Ausmus did not disclose what role Greene would have when he came off the disabled list. Moving Farmer down to Toledo likely means Greene will be used out of the bullpen.
Freep

Jordan Zimmermann: In his first start after missing 11 days and a start for a Grade 1 right groin strain, Zimmermann gave the Tigers a solid chance. He didn't go deep, but allowed just two runs on five hits, striking out three and walking two on 93 pitches.

Bullpen: Strong. Efficient. Alex Wilson didn't allow an inherited runner to score, and Justin Wilson was lights-out in the eighth. He struck out two and needed just 15 pitches.

Victor Martinez: Doubled in the first, knocked an opposite field home run in the third inning, and had an RBI single in the seventh. He needed an unlikely triple to hit for the cycle.

James McCann: Had a two-three-hit night: a homer in the second and an RBI single in the sixth for some insurance against Chicago, and a triple in the eighth.

STREAKS AND STATS:
Jordan Zimmermann gave up a double to Jose Abreu in the sixth, putting the White Sox within one of the Tigers. It marked Abreu's first extra-base hit since May 24, an extra-base slump that had spanned 31 at-bats.

James McCann's home run in the second was just his second of the year. It was also his second extra-base of the season. He later knocked his first non-homer extra-base hit (a triple) of the year in the eighth.

McCann is the first Tigers catcher to homer and triple in the same game since Ivan (Pudge) Rodriguez did it on April 14, 2008 vs. the Twins.

Victor Martinez knocked a home run and a double in the same game for just the second time this year. His last was on April 29 vs. the Twins at Minnesota.

Miguel Cabrera left the game in the seventh with lower back tightness. He is day-to-day.

Isn't Alex Wilson the leader in the Tigs bullpen in allowing inherited runners to score?

Not that time....thanks for expanding the outside corner ump.

F. Rodriguez 0-6 0.0% (27.7% career)

2016 AL AVG = 30.2%

B. Farmer 1-3 33.3% (33.3% career)
K. Ryan 7-20 35.0% (27.8% career)
M. Lowe 4-10 40.0% (28.8% career)
A. Wilson 6-14 42.9% (47.5% career)
J. Wilson 5-11 45.5% (28.7% career)
B. Parnell 1-2 50.0% (34.6% career)
M. Boyd 1-2 50.0% (same)
B. Hardy 4-7 57.1% (30.5% career)
D. VerHagen 6-9 66.7% (47.6% career)

Personally, there are very few scenarios that I would bring Alex Wilson into the game with runners on base.
