Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland left several of his regulars out of the starting lineup today. Catcher Alex Avila was one of them.
Leyland passed along a message to Avia prior to the game.

Facing a rookie pitcher we could probably win with a full AAA lineup.

The Tigers are seeking to win 12 straight for the first time since tying a team record with 14 consecutive wins in 1934.

Avila saw replay of foul tip last night. "That was ridiculous. That was like a firecracker coming off my mask," he said.
Alex Avila saw replays of the sparks late last night. "That was nuts. That was absolutely nuts."

I heard somewhere that Ozzie perma benched him so that he wouldnt have the lowest Bbatting avg. in comman day baseball. Not sure if true or not just what i heard or read cant remember where i saw or heard it either.

Home Field would be nice, but the way we are playing even on the road, I'm not worried.
