Valverde Temporarily removed from closer role.

Just do match ups instead of naming a closer. I don't want Al Al to just be a 9th inning guy.

Let's just hope we need a closer tonight, that would mean were is a good position at least instead of being down lol.

"I hope I have to close this game out today, but I cannot give you one name. I have a suggestion box down by my office." - Jim Leyland

no workout for either ALCS team in Detroit on off day Monday and no interview room availability.

Girardi on Jeter's fractured ankle: Maybe the soreness from the other two injuries had something to do with this.
This is 1st time Yankees will play an LCS game without Jeter or Rivera on the roster since October 15, 1981 vs the A's.

"We don't have a lot of time to work right now. We have to get things ironed out as quick as we possibly can." - Leyland on Valverde
Valverde throwing in Tigers bullpen as we speak. Pitching coach Jeff Jones' work begins.

Game 1 of the ALCS between Tigers - Yankees on TBS drew more than 6.8 million total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.

NEW YORK -- Jose Valverde won't close for the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of the AL Championship Series but manager Jim Leyland says the reliever is keeping his role for now.

"I guess that sounds like I am mud watching, but I am really not. I still consider him the closer, but he will not close the game," Leyland said. "We will do some work with him."

After converting all 49 save chances during the 2011 regular season, the 34-year-old right-hander was 35 for 40 this year. Leyland and pitching coach Jeff Jones were examining Valverde's delivery at 3 a.m.

"It is way too slow. The tempo is not good at all," Leyland said. "I don't even know if I am right about it, I probably shouldn't say it, but I will say it anyway, it almost appears to me that it looks like he is kind of waiting for something bad to happen. And I don't know if I am accurate on that, I may be totally wrong. But sometimes when you read a player, you can see that he's not quite as confident. And he is normally very confident. But I think there is something to this mechanical part of that. I definitely think that."

He planned to decide on his closer Sunday based on matchups.

"I cannot give you one name. I have a suggestion box down by my office," Leyland said.

I'm glad this is starting soon...cuz the Lions are fricking morons...

Cabrera swinging at down and in two times,
looked like splitters?
are the batters having to deal with the sun early?

That's what happens when you go 3-0 to a guy and are forced to throw him strikes over the plate.

Great play by Sanchez...behind the back glove work...ends the inning. Seriously our D has been unreal.
