Does Wilcox have a valid complaint or just an axe to grind?

"The guy who runs the Tigers isn't a real Tiger; he's from the Marlins organization, Dave Dombrowski," he said. "He has no connection with the '84 Tigers or the (Mickey) Loliches, the (Denny) McLains; he doesn't have a connection with those guys.

well milt, you can't limit your GM choices to people who played in the organization or spent a large part of their life working for the team. that kind of mentality kills a franchise. how about you hire a gm with a great track record and hire a few former players to be special assistants to bridge that gap. I wonder why the Tigers didn't do that?

He has some valid points about the HOF. Not sure about the worker's comp claim...maybe it is frivolous and Management is pissed about it.

Milt has made some good points.. I always found it odd how there was never a push for Morris, Sweet Lou and Alan for the HOF.. Teams are loaded .. If Milt has a valid claim they should pay him.. Some of these owners in professional sports are just assholes I guess. I never thought Mr I. was one of them as he always seemed connected with the Tigers of the past..

He hurt his knee a few years ago during one of the Tiger's Fantasy Camps and he submitted claim. It was reported by Pat Caputo that is why he was not invited for the 30th Anniversary.

Jack Morris, Larry Herndon, Lance Parrish and Chet Lemon, among others, were also missing. But sometimes these guys get tired of being on a consistent tour of the past. And some have better relationships with the current Tigers' organization than others. Milt Wilcox wasn't invited. He has filed a worker's compensation claim against the team based on knee suffered in fantasy camp a couple years ago, and it is being speculated why he wasn't invited.

Of note...there is no refuting of this from the Tiger Organization.

Frankly I weary of looking back at ancient history in a carefully choreographed manner.

However, if the 1935 Tigers had a reunion, I'd make that.

The '84 Tigers have milked that title for all they could. Gibby and Tram got coaching and broadcasting gigs out of it. Morris and Allen got broadcasting gigs. Guys like Wilcox, Petry, Rozema, etc. got years of fantasy camps and appearances. How many reunions and tribute nights have they had over the years? Hell, I seem to see Dave Rozema's stupid ass floating around CoPa and The Joe getting hammered off free beers about 50% of the time I go to a game now. I think the Tigers have done a nice job of keeping these guys relevant and engaged for the most part when in reality, they weren't Mr. I's guys to start with.

Hater. We need a "HE DON'T WANT TO WALK YOU" re-enactment to inject some life into this fan base and the franchise.

That was a great season and I have many great memories of it. I remember the beginning of the season listening to the games on the radio all the way to being at the last game of the WS. However, they are just memories. The past is the past. Just like when people were in an uproar about moving from Tiger Stadium. They did the right thing...move to a nicer area and tear that dump down! They can't take your memories away from you!

Well if he hurt his knee at a fantasy camp which in the end supports Wilcox and the Tigers Milt may have a valid claim..

I still reflect on '68 and '84 (more on '68) as great times. I remember when in '68 it was "23 years since the last championship" and in '84 "16 years since the last championship..."

Now it's been 31 years since the last championship. That's too long.
