Heard an intelligence officer interview this morning that claimed the perception that the US government is less corrupt than a lot of the places we spy on is a key element in gathering intelligence. People are more likely to bend rules, look the other way, or outright inform on their government when they think it's just a bunch of corrupt people looking out for themselves at the helm.the rampant corruption of 1990's
