It sucks but this was pretty predictable. At least he'll be good to go for next year.

we were all probably expecting this, its for the best i think. better to let him heal all the way than have him come back not 100% and not contribute as much or re-injure himself.

Exactly, it's not as though he's been a picture of durability the last few seasons.

Let him get as close to 100% as he will ever get.

It's probably for the best, can't always just expect guys to come back from long periods of missed time and just pick up where they left off like Dirks did so he probably would have slumped for the first few weeks away and not helped much this year. 100% for 2013 ditch DY and it's all good!

I Just hope he plays close to his 2011 level when he comes back

Coming off that type of injury and being 34...I think the Tigers will be lucky if he reaches his career average numbers with very little pop. He hit .330 with 12 HR and an OPS of .850 in 2011. His career averages are .303 avg with a .840 OPS. I would take that in a heartbeat but I still expect that his HR numbers will be low.

Yeah your probably right... His career numbers would be good...

I absolutely do not expect him to be able to duplicate 2011, but I fully expect he can be better than anyone on this team hitting in the 5 hole. If he went blind in one eye I'd still expect him to do better than any of those other guys. We really miss that "clutch" factor this year.
