Pumping it up to 100 in 9th is a nifty trick, but if it doesnt get outs, maybe you should not wait until the last inning when players will be sitting on it.

Yeah, JV doesn't know how to pitch....

(I hope everybody could pick up on my tone through just reading)

keppinger 93 /2seam, 93 /4seam, slider, curve

brignac 95/ 2seam, 86 changeup, 96 /2seam, 96/4seam, 96/4seam,

jennings 98 2/seam, slider, slider, curve, 99 2/seam,

pena changeup, changeup, 98 2/seam, curve, curve, 100 4/seam,

longoria 99 4/seam, 99 2/seam, 100 4/seam.

13 fastballs, 4 curves, 3 changeups, 3 sliders,

56% 2 and 4 seamfastballs, pretty much the mix of his first 8 innings, 59% fastballs, 24%curve, 24%offspeed.

All I know is Verlanders' unlucky March/April continues...Justin just has no luck in March/April.. Not counting today he is 9-14 with a 4.56 in March and April... He is pitching great with nothing to show for his efforts..

My idea is maybe start off the start with the fast stuff once in awhile or even in the middle innings. Dont make it so predictable in the 9th. When Longoria saw the radar gun in the Jennings at bat, he knew to sit on that 99/100 mph fastball and pull it as hard as he could.

Sitting on it and hitting it is another story. Not like Longoria smashed it. 99 times of a 100 JV gets it done.

Im ok with him throwing 100 at the end of the game. You still have to hit it.
It seemed like he got a little loose with his command to me.

Hey no one is perfect, he will be ready in 5 days. Learn something and move on.

It was the Pena at bat. 1-2 on him and missed on two off speed pitches low and then threw a fastball past everybody.

.....for christs sake, did people think we were going to go 162-0?

The guy was CY/MVP, I don't think any of us should be questioning his pitch selection at this point in time.

And I don't care what situation I want JV out there. I still wish he wasn't taken out. He's Justin freakin' Verander.

May be the Cy Young and MVP... doesn't mean he can't get better...

I agree, he could get better.

But the advice of someone who never threw a pitch beyond High School is not going to help him do it.

He limited the rays to two baserunners in 8 innings, they were bound do something sooner or later, I don't think his pitch selection had anything to do with it.

All I know is that you could see longoria's eyes light up when he saw that fastball.

Yeah, I was following the game on my phone and couldn't believe he took him, he is our best option to get out of that situation, there's no doubt about that.

And to pull him for Schlereth? Inexcusable.

Pitch selection wasn't much of a problem. His overthrowing and adrenaline rush backfired on Justin.
I am more concerned about Schlereth and Valverde right now.

Ridiculous. C'mon, man.....

A trick? Wow...

You don't SIT on a 100mph fastball. You swing and hope your bat is where the ball is. As someone else mentioned, it's easy to guess that a 100mph fastball is coming, it's a completely different thing entirely to actually HIT it.

Even though he is Justin Verlander he coulda used a little damn run support yesterday too. 2 runs is not what is expected out of this lineup, either.

We weren't exactly facing a slouch...Shields had good shit yesterday too.
