Vs ASU

Wow 6 whole pages of a game day thread LMAO , Sharty has hit rock bottom !!

yeah i wish we had 40 page game threads where we could spend more time reading valuable in-game insights from geniuses like bob and hungry than watching the game. "Jim needs to recruit better linebackers, stop using transfer QBs, go with your recruits and develop them." "no bob, Jim Harbaugh is the Pope of college football. Ig Patterson is starting its because he is the best and if the other guys were better, Jim Harbaugh would start them." this could be the single weakest post I have ever read.

Lotta yammering for a team that just lost yet again to an unranked pac 12 team , whats that 5 in a row ?? Easiest 300 bucks i have ever made on the plus 15.5 lmao , thanks SHARTY !!

whoa, $300? Didn't realize we were being trolled by a hitter. Now you have beer and snowmobile gas money for the whole winter - if you dont blow it all taking uofm and the points at wisco.

This would sting more if I felt we had a great team. With Lewerke at QB well never win the big ten and these offensive coaches need to finally be replaced. Time to bring in an outsider to run the offense.

what exactly do you want from Lewerke? He was 24 of 38 for 291 yards and at least 5 of those incompletes were drops. He drove the ball 56 yards with less than a minute to play and no timeouts to set up the game tying FG. Several drives were ended by stupid penalties - not his fault. He did have the fumble and one of the holding calls was probably bc he held on to the ball too long but you cant blame him for the cluster fucks that led to 2 of the missed FGs or the defensive penalties or the prevent defense or wasting all our timeouts or even the musical chairs at tailback.

Lewerke is not even in the top 5 reasons why we lost that game.

I?d mostly agree with you here. The fumble on the opening drive was costly in hindsight and there were a couple times I thought he missed open guys for potential big plays, but my takeaway was not that Lewerke was abysmal or played a big role in the loss.

after the defense, he is the #2 reason we should have won that game. He did miss a couple open receivers but QBs miss open receivers all the time, especially if they have mediocre lines blocking for them and OCs restraining them.

After Fields, is there a better QB in the B1G?

Lewerke is fine if he has his first read open. He's got a poor deep ball and should NEVER run read option. I just question his quarterback IQ. Seems like he misses seeing open guys often. He's certainly not the reason we lost, I'd just like to see him make the plays to be the reason we win a la Cook.

Also, Stewart made some good catches on off target passes so if you're gonna call out the drops, do it both ways.

The biggest problem obviously is offensive game plans. Really good QBs can mask or overcome poor playcalling. Lewerke isn't that type of QB. He's decent, nothing more.

I hear Martinez for Nebraska is really good. Admittedly haven?t watched them other than that great 9-6 loss we had to them last year and the fourth quarter of the Colorado game this year. Nate Stanley for Iowa is solid too.

if lewerke had cook's receivers he'd look as good as cook or better. cook got bailed out by great catches all the time. lewerke didn't complete 62% because Stewart bailed him out. he also extended several plays by scrambling so it's not accurate to say his first option has to be open.

he is a top 2 or 3 QB in the B1G and would be similar in a lot of other conferences.

those guys are pretty good but only Fields is obviously better, in my opinion. I dont think its clear we wud be better with either of the other 2.

he drove the team down the field to set up the tying FG w/ no timeouts. if they hadnt blown it and we won in OT it would be largely due to him - primarily the defense but he would be offensive player of the game.

Yeah thanks to ASU for that 3rd down PI that kept the drive alive I guess.

Listen I'm not staying he's horrible. He's just meh for a 3rd year starter. Hopefully now that we have that blind Heyward out of the mix at RB he won't be facing 2nd and 11 every drive and we'll finish slightly above .500 because the defense should carry us in most games to give us a chance.

And you're high if you think Stewart wasn't our best offensive player yesterday.

im not saying youre saying hes horrible, at least not anymore but you said you wanted to see him make plays to help is win. He did, give him credit - its not his fault the coaches and Coglin f'd it up. And if you're giving credit to an asu penalty you have to acknowledge the terrible PI call on Dotson that negated a first down throw just before that.

Stewart had a good game but he dropped a very catchable ball that killed a critical drive. I still think Lewerke would get the game ball - it might be close but it wouldn't be like Eli getting Superbowl MVP over Plaxico.

I have not posted in a long time, and quite honestly I?ve lost a lot of interest in this football team over the last few years. The fact that we woke up this morning and not a single person was fired is all you need to know about Dantonio. Also he was a complete dick after the game to Herm. I spent years watching LSU have top 5 defenses in the nation paired with awful offenses, I watched them last week and they put up 40 on Texas. YOU HAVE TO MAKE CHANGES!! We are stuck in 1980 with the awful play calling.

its pretty obvious we are never going to have recruiting classes among even the top in the B1G on a consistent basis. so if thats not going to change, we can't also have a clown brigade for an offensive coaching staff.

I wonder if sbee still thinks Bollman was a good hire.

Sorry, boys for your loss to perhaps my least favorite university in the US. I hope that MSU squares things away.

I have to ask, why the hate for ASU? I don't know of many people around here who have much opinion on them either.
