vs Kentucky

if we played like this against ku or dook we prob lose by a lot more. both those teams look to be further along at this point than us or ky.

Ok honestly, how outdated is this fucking program in terms of basketball and football. These coaches are living in 1985. This is pathetic.

Difference in the game was we missed open 3s and Kentucky hit tough 3s.

32-18 edge in ft attempts doesn't hurt Kentucky either.

Not sure Kentucky is even a really good team. Unless Maxey can consistently hit circus shots I just didn't see NBA type talent on their roster tonight. I also dont think we ever shoot this bad from 3 again this year.

I dont agree with this at all. Kansas turned it over 28 times and only lost by 2.

Nebraska lost by 19 to UC Riverside. I bet if we sent Hoiberg to the huskers he wouldn't have got in that game and his fucking dad is the coach.

I agree. I had that game on earlier and from what I saw it was just as awful as our game. Pretty lackluster start to the year for these two marquee games.

It looks like the team will go as far as Winston, Tillman, and Henry takes it. If 2 of the 3 are in foul trouble (I thought both of the charges on Tillman were weak, Henry's fouls were just dumb) or off their game it's going to be a struggle. Lots of other bodies that might be capable, but also lots of people where Izzo probably has no clue what he's going to get from them on a night to night basis.

The freshmen all looked like freshmen as far as doing stupid stuff. I did like the minutes Bingham gave them.

Vegas has MSU winning the NC this season. And its OOC sched. is more impressive than M's. It's one game.

It's still a good team, perhaps can become a very good team. But one with a thinner margin for error that needs more things to go right. The #1 ranking was predicated on having Langford back in the mix in pre-injury form. Now anything they might get out of him this season would probably be considered a bonus.

Having Langford would have made the difference as he would have hit some of those wide open threes I think.

I think the guys that took most of those shots will usually hit some of those wide open 3's. Just a horrible shooting night. Lot of guys getting their first taste of big game action.

totally agree. its a long season and we are going to have some 2 standard deviation bad nights and 2 standard deviation good nights but most will be around the average. so as long as this was one of those bad nights and the long run average is a solid team average, we will be ok.

to a lesser extent, same with FTs. the team average has to be better.

Im definitely unconvinced about Bingham being one of these 6'11" perimeter guys like they were talking about last night. it was a big stage so maybe those bricks were due to nerves but watching how badly he missed free throws, he doesnt appear to have the mechanics to be a big man with a green light to pull the trigger. he needs to work on rim protection and getting garbage buckets.

KU is better than we are right now - most of those turnovers (about 20) were in the first half but their defense kept it close - kinda like some MSU teams have done. they were leading at one point in the 2nd half by 9 but they had a couple critical turnoves and dook took advantage.

i thought both teams looked really athletic and better than is at this stage. they both have more than 1 or 2 guys they can get points from - ku had 3 guys in double figures and dook had 4. I think we will ultimately too and other than recruiting ($$$), Self sucks so i think their ceiling is lower but right now, both those teams look better to me than us or ky.

it's a bit of a punch in the gut. i dont know anything about evansville (why would anyone? ) but they outrebounded KY while were even with them. they were were decent from 3 and great from the foul line - 2 things that killed us. it's not like KY shut us down, we just missed open shots all night. they lost a ton of offense and are young so they're gonna have some rough nights, especially early but still, you'd think they should beat evanston even on a rough night - although from looking at the game recap, other than a drop in 3 pt shooting and the aforementioned rebounding differential, their performance doesn't look all that much different from our game.
