Weed Legal in CO on Jan 1st

CO borders six other states. it'll be funny to see the hick cowboys and farmers in WY, NE, and KS, and all the freaks in Utah get a contact buzz from the massive amounts of smoke that will come billowing out of the state after New Years.

WHoooaaaaoaaaa dude.

too bad these guys aren't around to partake anymore...

The lawyer dude doesn't really look that much like BDT....(I don't know if anybody else has ever called Benicio Del Toro BDT...)

I read the book a long time ago; I don't remember that Hunter Thomson ever told what the guy's name was...just always "my lawyer," as I recall...

his name was Oscar Acosta. he was an chicano activist lawyer from LA, and apparently a blaze of intoxicated energy. (no surprise he died young, 33, and presumably violently)

Vic, i posted because Thompson lived outside Aspen, CO for the last 30+ years of his life. didn't you have a story about him?

I didn't say a local cop would care...I'm just pointing out that a law saying it's "legal" is misleading.

Plenty of people will think it's 100% legal not knowing they could still face federal charges for that ounce of chronic, fancy pipe, or those 6 plants.

Sooner or later you're going to have bored DEA agents or Marshals, or FBI, or whatever who have not had a bust in a while that will decide to go nail some dispensaries, head shops, or growers. And then saying "but we made it legal!" will be as useful as tits on a bull.

No, and in fact "legalizing" it was more a formality than anything. People in CO don't really care about it but now that it's legal, you have people from out of state relocating ...that, to me, is the downside. The people who came here because of the law, not those who voted for it and already here.

Yes, I saw HST "perform" at the Fox Theater in Boulder. He was hammered and mumbling and got pissed when some fans began to grumble and boo and discharged a fire extinguisher on the crowd. I have heard stories from Aspen including shooting his shotgun at a police helicopter and lots of crazy cocaine parties at his compound.

"Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail 1972" and Theodore H. White's "The Making of the President" (1960, which was the first one, and I don't think the year was actually included in the title) are pretty much the only books anyone has to read to know pretty much everything about United States Presidential politics.

So I went and bought some grass at the place down the street. Did it on principle and because we're heading up snowboarding for the next few days. It was actually pretty cool.

Doorman checked my ID to make sure I was 21 and I got into a line similar to one at a coffee shop or Deli behind about 12 other people. The doorman said people waited up to four hours yesterday and thst he saw 23 different States on drivers licenses. Two flat screen TVs on the wall behind the counter showed the Menu prices and at my age, I would say I was about the average age. There were some 20-somethings and people in their 50s and 60s. There were a few women employees and generally speaking, the "customer service" was outstanding.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens ...if the drop off from 2 to 4 hours to 10 minutes in/out in one day is an indication, maybe Reefer Madness is overblown.

I bet the scrubby little Pizza place a few doors down is happy!

I'm curious to know if there's a big difference in price and quality between store pot now and the stuff you might have had available last year through other means.

Ha, I was just about to ask that question. Didn't think Red would be the one to beat me to it.

There is so much more to this movement than just the negative public persona of MJ, think hemp cultivation for one

http://www.hemp-technologies.com/page33/page33.html

We could be at the beginning stages of the next boom cycle of wealth creation with this trend..it's not to be feared there are many positives for the Econ that will result from this IMO...it was legal in the past and it shall all be legal again in the future

I wouldn't bet on it. Just because hemp was used for other things in the past doesn't mean it's economically advantageous today...a boom cycle of wealth creation is just wishful thinking. Try comparing the cellulose fiber growth to bamboo or switchgrass instead of trees and see if it's still the "miracle plant of our time".

Lol cocaine was legal in thew past too. It was a headache cure. So was Laudanum (opium), maybe these should be legal again since they were in the past. I'm sure the Colombian and Indian/Afghan economies would see many positives from it.
