Weird car window sticker...

Yesterday I was behind a minivan that had a maize and blue back window sticker with block M and it said "The University of Michigan" to which I was like, WTF??? When would any legit UM fan buy a sticker that had "The" at the beginning of that?

Is this something new? Has that become a thing? I certainly hope not, in no way should UM be equated to O$U in this fashion, IMO.

I don?t think it?s meant to equate Michigan to OSU.

People refer to the University of Michigan both with and without the article ?the.?

I usually refer to it as the University of Michigan or Michigan.

When I?m talking about athletics, I just call Michigan.

Buckeye fans who are legitimate morons literally spell it ?thee.?

I get saying it with "the" before it... I do NOT get putting that on any merchandise of any kind when followed only by University of Michigan. "The" is not needed, necessary, nor wanted IMO.
