WH justification for the extrajudicial killing of American citizens

a lot of innocent people died in Bush's illegal war also.....same as the Korean War , Vietnam War , WW2 , WW1.

shit happens......

Never figured you as the amoral sort. Let's just keep making the same blunders in the name of ... what ... exactly? Freedom? No. That's gone. Liberty? Uh-uh. Self preservation?

I got it: National Security! That's what were about now!

someone else ?? it's been happening since the beginning of time...innocent people get killed in war.

the US is actively engaged in WAR ON TERROR and Obama's doctorine is using Drones as a key piece...like I said instead of American soldiers dying in using these drones to take out key operatives...I have zero problems with it.

OK. You win. As long as innocent people have been getting killed since the beginning of time, then I guess it's ok. When I said the "someone else" doing wrong, I clearly meant exactly 2 people is bad, but more than 2 makes it ok.

Here's an idea: nuke Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Syria and the Horn of Africa.

And Dearborn, too.

Problem solved. Right!?

A drone is not a sniper's bullet.

A drone is in no danger of being captured and tortured in a hostile environment.

It is not the weapon, it's the use of them. Dropping explosives on sovereign countries we are not at war with just blurs all the boundaries. Some (The New York Times, amazingly) says it's a brand new world. I don't care for it and I think that drones are creating it rather than adapting to this so-called new world.

No, but they are captured and sent to to Russian and Chinese research labs. I sure hope there's no chance of us ever being in conflict with a nation that can out-manufacture us and has reverse-engineered our drones.

...and just like that, those preppers that worry about EMPs have another thing to worry about. Deploying EMP's on ourselves to clear the skies of drones.

yeah. There have been a number of articles out there detailing the number of civilian casualties, refuting the claims of US officials that these things are "surgical" in any way, and the claims that there have been few to none civilian casualties.

furthermore, some journalists who have studied this have had surmised that these strikes actually serve to spark anti-american sentiment (unsurprisingly) and one guy who went to the scene and documented american-made missile parts in a strike that they had denied occurred is now being held prisoner without trial by us.

...

indeed. I think this is all a case of reckless profiteering driving policy. there seems to be no thought behind it, other than escalating the sales of drones and spare parts, and encouraging their use everywhere.

as I mentioned above the issue that these drone strikes that miss and kill innocent people (or are on target and still kill innocent people because the kids sitting in Arizona piloting them don't think or care) end up spurring anti-american sentiment ... could be seen as a bonus to some. it creates a vicious circle of drone-attacks-> more anti-American sentiment -> more drone attacks... which pumps out profits for the defense industry, and medals of "valor" for the drone pilots.

this is all no worse or better than it was under Bush. maybe to a degree less destructive and not as costly, but this hardly gives Obama any moral credibility versus his predecessor.

it's just awful and despicable any way you look at it.

Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney criticised Obama's decisions on the drone, saying that, after the aircraft went down, the president should have ordered an airstrike within Iran: "The right response to that would have been to go in immediately after it had gone down and destroy it. You can do that from the air ... and, in effect, make it impossible for them to benefit from having captured that drone." Instead, "he asked nicely for them to return it, and they aren't going to"
if Dick Cheney is such a tough guy, he should go get it himself.

would love to see him try.

...and yet, China has a military.

China owns a shit ton of our debt and cant afford to blow up all of the wallmarts. Who cares if they have our drone technology....we will be outsourcing to them to build them cheaper at some point anyways....its the american way.

That's besides the point.

That's besides the point.

what is the point?....that we should have started world war 3 cause a plane we werent supposed to be flying over iran crashed? Its our fault...not irans. You dont start a war cause we were fucking dumb....

I didn't say anything like that either. That's just a weird thing to get from what I wrote. I don't see how you got from A to B. I'm rejecting your "kill god" line and you think I'm pro-war all of the sudden. I don't follow.

For purposes of status quo. If nobody else had armies, I don't think China would either, but when you're sitting on top of Russia and Japan, it's probably a good idea to keep a few tanks handy. You know, just in case.

You could make that speculation about any nation.
