What Ohio* sanctions will satisfy you?

I expect them to get the same as USC. Why is it taking so long for the NCAA to impose the penalty?

No kidding. Let's get it over with, NCAA.

So the rumor is that both Ohio State and Urban Meyer approached the infractions committee separately to get an idea of what kinds of penalties would be imposed. If true, it gives an idea about the strength of the penalties coming when you consider that Urban took the job.

The other rumor that has been going around for some time is that Gene Smith will be stepping down once those penalties are announced. I hope that one is true, I just don't like how he handled things.

Out of sight, out of mind

when they drop the penalties it will be during other drama that will curve the hype around the OSU infractions. During bowl week everyone is hyped for the games and as a side not, "we have hard-ons for OSU so they will get no penalties and be allowed to recruit 30 5* recruits." Thanks from the NCAA

The sanctions really don't matter. We think they're dirty, meaning we think they have a culture of ignoring certain rules that give them an advantage in terms of recruiting and keeping players eligible. They don't see it that way. We would be satisfied if the the NCAA ruling made it clear that we are right and they are wrong. No potential sanctions accomplish that. Whatever the sanctions are, the disagreement will continue. If they are lax, we think it's 'cause of the relationship with Gene Smith. If they are heavy, buckeyes think they were treated unfairly. Neither gets us any closer to being satisfied.

I hope they wait until after this year's bowl game is set for Ohio*. That way, if they get a bowl ban, it will screw up next year, too.

That's why I'm thinking 1 year postseason ban. 1 year isn't anything that will hurt recruiting that much and it wouldn't scare away Urbie.

It's weird. When Michigan is in trouble, "2-for-1" was referred to as the standard penalty. With OSU, that idea hasn't even been mentioned.

Mark Emmertt is the head of the NCAA... I am pretty sure he will let the $uckeyes off.... You all know the reason why.... It really will be deplorable...

Na, let them slide this time. With UM coming in, bound to have plenty more "issues" and they'll be in violation of probations and repeat offender status. Then NCAA will have no choice but to kill their entire athletic program, not just football. Turn that f'ing school into a ghost town.

To be honest, I don't really care what they get. If they get a slap on the wrist, fine. I'd rather play OSU with a full boat and no excuses for the next few years. If Michigan beats an OSU team that is banned from bowls, and has a hit on scholarships, you know we will hear the, "Well, we didn't have our whole team."

If that's what happens, the proper response is "Doesn't matter. Beat ohio."
