Which Dude is Hotter? Wyatt Russell or Oliver Hudson?

Heat was a great movie, despite Al Pacino's overacting. That's all I have to say about that.

I think Hollywood tried to pass Sallie Field off as hot, maybe not sexy but hot - Smoky and the Bandit...

Well again Sally Field was a child TV star in the 60s, She was hugely popular with the television audience.

What ever people saw her as - sexy, hot cute or whatever, Producers and marketers didn’t have to pass her off as anything - Sally Field has always been bank.

EDIT: Same with Goldie Hawn going back to the iconic Rowan and Martin’s laugh in of the 60s. Cute, hot, whatever-she’s always been bank. Nobody has ever had to pass her off as anything. Audiences love her.

don't get me wrong, I'm not saying their achievements were undeserved because they were simply miscast as hot chicks. I think at least 3 of the 4 on my list are very talented and earned their success because they weren't one-dimensional. I'm just saying hotness wasn't one of their dimensions.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is obviously the 4th. I don't find her particularly intriguing on any level but Hollywood has definitely cast her (inexplicably) as the hot girl a few times (The Dark Knight would be one example).

Edit: sorry to hear about your dog. I grew up with dogs but haven't had one of my own which is now about 30 years. I clearly remember the pain of losing a few throughout the first half of my life so far.

How does someone cast someone else as hot? Maybe they got the role because they were talented..

Plus hot is different to different people.

Doug McIntyre happens to be doing his 790 KABC broadcast remote from the Nixon Library and a main theme of discussion is the 1968 election. That’s about the time I started watching Laugh In.

Anyway to eight year old me Goldie Hawn was hot. Looking at those old clips 50 years later maybe now I see her as having been more cute.

Never saw Sally Field as hot - cute and funny just like Meg Ryan.

There’s a dirtiness to Maggie Gyllenhahl that I like.

Yep.

When God invented beer he had fat girls in mind.

Meanwhile I just went on the radio and shared a few of my memories from 1968 - Specifically I talk about how the Detroit Tigers World Series victory helps heal a city that was being torn apart by urban strife.

The host Doug McIntyre is about my age and he grew up in New York but he spent summers in Owasso Michigan working at his grandparents hotel and he remembered that Tiger team too.

it's Owosso, two "o's".

Owasso with an "a" is in Oklahoma.

Owosso is a typical small Michigan town, 20 mins outside Lansing.

/had an ex-GF from there

In my oh-so-humble opinion the alleged hyper-attractiveness of a lot if Hollywood celebs (both male and female) is overdone by the studios & magazines, to promote the industry generally.

Maybe I was doing voice recognition texting. Or maybe it was AutoCorrect.

Sure, but doesn?t every industry over hype its products?

Look at how car commercials for example, try to make it look like driving is a lot of fun.

Driving is almost always a hassle and a pain in the ass.

...

EDIT: Oh, right - I forgot to add - I know that you a lot of you Better Call Saul nerds are also The Big Lebowski nerds.

Lot of TBL elements in Lodge 49.

They actually referenced The Big Lebowski in promos for that Lodge 49 show.

I haven't watched it yet. Even if it is good, I consider comparing anything to The Big Lebowski to be sacrilegious.

Based on the convoluted hippie-odyssey feel of the promos, I wonder Is Lodge 49 based on Pynchon's The Crying of Lot 49?

... (according to Wikipedia, yes it is, which the creator used as an inspriration for this show)

Last time I watched something based on a Thomas Pynchon novel with my wife (Inherent Vice) it didn't go well. like... I still don't know how it ends because she stormed out of the theatre with 30 minutes left to go.
