Who should the Lions draft at #5?

All those guys could be on the board and I would still take the deal, little to no difference in those picks and what you can grab with the Bills pick. You still get to grab possibly Johnson, Warmack, or Cooper for the oline, Jordan or Mingo or Star on the dline, or Rhodes at cb. Who knows Ansah could fall into your lap too.

hmmm...i could argue it either way. Hard to pass up the talent when you have so many holes....especially if youre passing up a true LT at #5. My trade down target was Vaccarro but now that we have both S needs filled the value on that pick decreases. Rhodes is still a reach at 8 i think. But something like a :

1) Warmack G or Lane Johnson OT
2) Hunt DE
2b) Banks or Wreh-Wilson CB

...would still be a solid draft for use

Like Wreh-Wilson a lot.

If we stay at 5, I want Milliner, Joekel, or Fisher. I would prefer a trade down. We need to fill holes at OLB, DE, OG, CB and WR. I know Mayhew won't cover all the holes through the draft with his history late in the draft.

Assuming we get a 2nd for trading down, I hope our draft looks like thia
1. Warmack, OG
2a. Okafor, DE
2b. Slay, CB
3. Sio Moore, OLB
4. Marcus Davis, WR
5. Jelani Jenkins, OLB
6. Braden Hansen, C/G
7a. Caleb Sturgis, K
7b. Quin Sharp, P

Way too early for jones and cyprien is projected in the second

bah sorry flip that, cyprien then Jones. i see alot of mocks have cyp going bottom first but who knows. If Jones recovery is going great, he will go right around 41 to 50. I like him as our center for the future. I've read a few places where he is comparable to Jeff Saturday. Nagy as guard. Plus Jones had a significant injury and had surgery, so thats right down our alley as far as prerequisites to be picked

Im starting to board the Fisher train now. I have 3 guys im loving....Fisher, Miliner and Ansah.

I dont think i have ever been this indescisive in a long time. I usually have one set player i want and thats it.

Tony I completely agree. I could see any of those three as future stud players.

Despite who we each may want to pick, I think the draft is going to fall such that there's really only one obvious choice.

Situation A: Both top LTs are drafted in the top 3, Milliner is picked by the Eagles.
Pick A: Ansah

Situation B: Both top LTs are drafted, Ansah goes in the top 4.
Pick B: Milliner

Situation C: Ansah, Milliner, and Floyd go in the top 4.
Pick C: Whichever LT is available (probably Fisher)

Honestly, unless some team gets really stupid and picks Geno Smith early, I don't see many realistic scenarios where we are forced to choose between our top choices. Either one of them is there, or they aren't. Maybe we are forced to choose between Ansah and Milliner, but that's probably more philosophical than talent-based. Milliner has better tape and elite physical tools, but plays an arguably less important position. Ansah is a freakish athlete with good tape, and plays a position of obvious need.

So basically you think it will be Ansah, Milliner, Joeckel or Fisher? Limb meet Everyone, Everyone - Limb.

Lol.

Justin Hunter WR
Terron Armstead OT
William Gholston DE

I would love to see people flip their lid with a draft like that. Makes some sense with CW/SLH gone and you don't like the project DEs at 5 and Milliner/LTs are all gone. Could even trade Suh in 2014 for cap relief (and a 1st) and still have two stud DTs.

I'm just saying it's silly to ask who you want the Lions to draft when they don't have the #1 pick. Does someone want Fisher/Joekel more than Ansah? Great, too bad our opinion doesn't have any effect on the teams picking in front of us. There is a realistic chance that ALL our top picks will be off the board (1-Joekel, 2-Fisher, 3-Ansah, 4-Milliner).

I find it odd that we're debating the merits of picks when the most likely scenario is that the team won't have the chance to debate players since most of them will be off the board.

Why would anyone flip their lid? This is exactly the kind of draft Mayhew has put together for years. Oh, because he doesn't trade up in your mock, now I get it. That IS mind blowing.

we need a gimp out of the group....hunter goes down with hangnail and gets IR'd for the year?

After Armstead's 40 guaranteed he is getting moved to Tight End. Scheffler's replacement in the slot?

I wouldn't be surprised if we took him in the second. A kid like that would be a huge asset pulling at right guard behind a new left tackle.

Why would anyone flip their lid? Because they talk about how bad Mayhew drafts were ad naseum when they were actually good drafts.
