Who should the Lions draft at #5?

Now that we filled up most of the holes in our secondary I wouldn't be suprised if we even took a CB in the first 3 rounds. They are gonna let Bently/Jonte/Greenwood fight for that last CB spot.

The Biggest need right now is LT/DE. Right now its either gonna be J. Jones and W. Young on D, or Reiff and Hilliard/Fox on O. Both I'm not too comfortable with.

They have to protect the franchise QB and I think that even if Joekel and Fisher our gone we go Lane Johnson with our first pick and DE in Round two and LB in Round 3.

We will have a better shot at getting a quality DE at the beginning of round 2 then a starting Tackle.

Having Bently/Jonte/Greenwood fight for the other starting CB spot is not a good idea. That means we could have two of them getting significant playing time since one of them would probably play nickel. I'd be much more comfortable if we took a CB in one of the first 3 rounds.

agreed...corner is weak. Going out and paying money to shore up safety then leaving a gaping hole on one side of the field doesnt make much sense. But at the same time DE is more of a priority since we only have 1 DE on the roster and his name is Ronnell Lewis lol (i guess you can count Willie Young too eventhough hes a RFA whipidee dooo). Tackle and OLB are needs as well. Corner would have to be chosen in rds 1 or 2 or else forget about it. In a perfect world id go:

T
CB
DE
OLB

but the more i look at mock drafts the less chance i give to there being a decent day 1 starting corner there in the 2nd round. Trufant, Wreh-wilson, Rhodes....all could sneak into the bottom of rd 1 or early rd 2.

Im not sure they take a CB early in this draft. I think they should but I think the staff and mayhew like bentley, green and greenwood. woohoo.

I would imagine they will give Chris Greenwood a look before they draft a high round corner.

My guess is, based on where the team sits now, they will go OT and DE early, trade around a bit to acquire picks in the 3rd and 4th rounds, and sign a veteran CB later if they feel Greenwood isn't the guy.

rely on a inexperienced cb from albion that sat on IR all of last year instead of getting a fix....sounds about right.

No one said "instead of". I said they would likely give him a look before they go after a vet in a saturated market.

i said instead of lol....i dont think theyll address the other corner position unless an unsigned veteran comes cheap toward the end of FA or Milliner miraculously is BPA sitting there at 5. Not to mention i think theyre in denial about their cb situation almost as much as LKP is. I think they think theyre fine with rolling with Bartell. I think theyre nuts....but w/e. It is true that LT or De is probably a greater need currently.

Are we ever going to resign LoJack or is he gone to someone else? I know he is not the answer, but I feel signing him would allow us to wait until the 2nd for a DE. If it comes down to Ansah or one of the LT's, we have to take one of the LT's.

In denial or know the truth about Bartell, Bentley and Green's talent through hours of them watching them practice and in the film room. Houston, Delmas, Quin is a good secondary no matter who is at the other CB or nickel spot.

Denial.

The only thing bentley and bartell have been talented at is getting injured. Im sure youll reply with how Bartell held brandon marshall under 100 yards and that hes all world. Then ill remind you how he sucked in st louis and Oakland played a safety (michael huff) over him out of position at corner before they wanted to see bartell on the field again. Ps....they released Huff. So they played a guy out of position that they didnt even want over the guy you think should be our starting corner. The raiders...

WTF does it matter where he went to school? Good players come from small schools all the time....should they not get a look because of where they went to school?

Another hughes fail......what a shock.

I don't give a shit what he did in Oakland. He played well as a Lion, Oakland misused him. Oakland is not a good team.

Bentley can stick with receivers. Just needs to get his head around.

Plus experience plus some talent trumps any 2nd round rookie.

Lions are not a good team. He didn't play much for us....how do you know he played well?....cause CUtler couldn't connect with Marshall for 1 game?....that is the basis and depth to your argument? I give you years of factual information and you battle back with statistics from one game?...brilliant.
