Why are you a Lions fan?

been 2 games in old Tigers Stadium, 8 in Safeco field in SEattle, 2 piston Games one in the Silverdome the other in the KeyArena in Seattle, no Lions or Redwings yet

My favorite is when someone is a Lakers, Yankees, and Cowboys fan.

Born in 92, grown up in Michigan most of my life, and have been a Lions fan since the early 2000s (the worst time to start, right?). Never got to watch Barry live unfortunately. My first memories as a Lions fan are of Charlie Batch and then Joey Harrington. So, I guess it's mostly gone up from there.

Unlike many of you, I was alive when the Lions won their last championship. I was nine months old and I will never forget the experience. I'm a Lions' fan because as a kid they had some good players that just could not somehow get it done. Guys like Dick LeBeau, Alex Karras, Roger Brown, Lem Barney, Ed Flannagan, Nick Pietrosante, Gail Cogdill, Pat Studstill (that's a great football name and he led the league in receiving yards in 1966 and was the Lions' punter for six seasons), Mel Farr and Charlie Sanders. It's that way now, too. It must be what I expect and appreciate, I suppose...consistent underachievement with flashes of brilliance.

You have experience as a baby? I can barely remember things before I was four..

Barry Sanders was enough to make you choose one of the shittiest organizations in the history of sports over the Pennsylvania teams?

Like I said, I just don't understand it.

It's funny grandy...I was born in Battle Creek and moved to Pennsylvania when I was three, so my association is growing up in an all Michigan household despite living in PA...however, I have found various Lions fans here in Lancaster and a good friend of mine owns a bar which is kind of a de facto Lions bar, where I've since met other Lions fans. Most of which were suckered in by Barry. I too, don't get it, and had I no connection to the Mitten, I'm certain I would have been a Steeler or Iggles or 'Skins or maybe even Ravens fan as those four permeate the area.

Fun fact, my second team is actually the Browns. I guess I'm really a glutton for punishment.

Born in Michigan and root for all the Detroit teams. I have a friend that likes the Lions because of Barry.

I was watching football and realized one day that I was jumping from team to team and figured I should get a favorite team and stick with it. Saw a commercial with Barry Sanders in it and said "I gotta follow this dude, he's amazing" and always felt like I couldn't bail out on the team even after a player made me a fan of them. So I've been a fan ever since.

I figure besides born, raised and still reside in MI...gluten for punishment may be the only other logical reason

Born in Michigan, die a Lions a fan. I have lived in Montana for the last twelve years though and it's interesting which teams folks root for in a state with no pro teams. Denver, Seattle and Minnesota dominate football, but I have met lots who picked a team during their childhood based on a favorite player, hence, you get a lot of random combinations across all sports.

waterford ,mi, 1960..first game was thanksgiving 1969 at tiger stadium...was hooked

would love to attend a lions game or red wings. the only 2 i have yet to see in person
