I feel the same about ellsbury. If he wins for a team that didn't make the playoffs, it smacks of hypocrisy. Cabrera from 2010. hamilton missed the last month of the year.

Of all the national sports sites, only usatoday had Cabrera as the MVP.

Verlander might still win with some 1st place votes, and 2nd or 3rd.
What might cost him are if any of these voters leave him off the ballot completely, which was the case iirc, with pedro.

I think Miguel is under appreciated by voters. He had a monster year. It should be him or JB from the Blue Jays if going purely on stats. But he made the playoffs. He should win.

tuff call, but for some reason I think Cabrera might get it, althou J.V. is very deserving. it would be nice to see 3 Tigers in the top 10.

Verlander has now won the Rookie of the Year Award, Cy Young Award and Most Valuable Player Award. He became just the second player in BBWAA history to earn all three awards.
Great start to a career already for a guy who was a rookie in 2006. He was the 10th pitcher to win both the MVP and Cy Young Award in the same season and the seventh in the AL.
