Detroit Lions 2024 Off Season Thread

Think i saw we signed Marcus davenport from min. Quality depth if he can stay healthy.

Another gamble on a guy who can’t stay in the field…

It’s only a depth signing so not bad but damn. Can we get some proven to stay healthy caliber players in the building! lol

Add Davenport to the list

Gamble on injury prone but Glenn and Campbell know him from New Orleans days

1 year 6.5 million not bad though

Davis and Moseley. Each play half a season and we are set lol

Davenport nice add for depth which helps. Rotation of Paschal, Cominsky and Davenport opposite Hutch. And all 3 can slide inside too to pair with McNeil on passing downs

It’s been a good off season for the RBs. Glad to see some of those guys finally get paid. Probably had a lot to do w teams salary cap increase but still nice to see RBs get what they deserve.

The guard market seems out of control.

The #Lions are signing CB Amik Robertson to a two-year, $9.25 million deal that’s worth up to $10.75M with incentives, per source. Robertson appeared in 52 games (21 starts) with the #Raiders and can play the slot. Another significant DB addition after the Carlton Davis trade.

I’m still waiting for the prize signing…Holmes go spend some of that Ford money and let’s bring D Hunter to Detroit!

If you look at a lot of those deals, there's plenty of funny money. It's better than last season when no one got paid, but it still shows how little value the running backs have. To think, Le'Veon Bell was demanding 20 mil/yr from the Steelers just a few years ago.

Report is his asking price is $30 mil per year now after the burns deal got finalized.

Looks like Hunter got a 2yr $49mil deal w the Texans. Your value is what you receive.

Davis, Robertson and Moseley added basically. CGJ gone for 11 per back to Eagles.

Could Robertson play slot and Branch take CGJ's role at safety/slot. Or Branch in slot full-time and Ife and Joseph at safety

Drafting a Guard should happen on day 1 or day 2. But safety on the table too for depth and Ife a FA next year. Day 2 most likely there. EDGE or future OT/OT depth still in play too.

DT the biggest need. We'll see if they get a guy like Reader though at Nose tackle. Big nose and plenty of guys that can move inside now with Paschal, Cominsky or Davenport on passing downs next to McNeil.

Low cap hit year 1 for Robertson. Like Cominsky's deal last year

Cominsky just took a 2 million dollar pay cut (not a restructure) and is cheaper this year

Holmes and Disner got these contracts on lock down. Nice to see

Easy to have these contracts on “lock down” when you haven’t signed anybody!!!

You have to be under the cap by 4 PM

But Holmes and Disner do a great job getting guys to take pay cuts. Cominsky, Romeo, Vaitai and Charles Harris recently. Though Vaitai and Harris were still a waste last two years

It’s common sense for those players you mentioned.

A. Take this paycut
B. Get cut and test your luck in FA.

For the most part, these are minimal contracts and players in the grand scheme of things. Holmes needs to land us a true difference maker. Stop shopping in bargain isles and go get the big prize!
