will staff get 5000 back to back?

Dude needs to work on his leadership and pocket presence. I think he got a little bit invincible feeling after all those last comebacks last year and thought he could just do that all the time.

I was pretty impressed with his 5K last year. This year not so much. He is just chucking the ball and losing games.

He's had a lot of passes get stopped inside the 2, I think Calvin alone has 6 or 7 where he was tackled on the 1.

yes....but probably not over 20 of them. Hanson's FGs are up 6 with a game to go.

when your D gives up 28 per game , the losing isn't all on you

I'll defend the D to a certain extent.

10 TD directly on turnovers/ST...
2 TD scored within 5 yds off TO/ST(AZ game)
1 TD on schwartz's error(Hou-81 yd run)
6 FG on TO inside the Det 45yd line
1 TD on TO at the Det 40yd line

116 pts

In looking back Stafford turned the ball over some many times inside the red zone...sickening

The D actually only truly gives up 21.8 PPG. (411-84 non defenisve points allowed)/15

There have been 5 returns for TDS (4 pick 6s, plus one Stafford fumble againt Green Bay) and 2 other picks I would put on Stafford(both Arizona game picks that went to the Lions 5 and 3 yard line) that the Lions gave up points but it was in no way the defenses fault.

There are also 4 special team TDs allowed and the one Pettigrew fumble return from the Titan game.

The problem with the D though is it folds like a cheap tent in the 4th Quarter. They have allowed a big TD drive in the 4th Quarter in almost every game. Even the wins against the Rams(10 points), Eagles(long Maclin TD) and the Seahawks (long td drive to go down 24-21).

True story as I reposted. The D did fold like a cheap tent in the 4th in almost every game though. They allowed a TD drive in the 4th way too many times. 411-116=295. That's only 19.6 PPG given up by the defense factoring in Schwartz and the TOS from field goals.

stop defending a defense that cant stop anyone when it matters most....8 UFAs on that side of the ball , I hope they let them all ****ing walk , blow it up and rebuild it.

I noted they folded in the 4th. But you have to put some blame on the offense. 10 returns allowed is ridiculous. Houston, Delmas and Durant bring back. Everyone else can walk that is a FA.

get some players in the secondary.....I attended to many games when I heard Carey, Silva, Florence, J Green, Coleman, Alphonso Smith, etc were announced as our starters, WTF!!!!

Don't forget Wendling too. Houston was good other than the Falcon game. Delmas is playing well when he actually plays. Carey actually did solid but I'd rather get an actual good safety in the draft, Green was average for a rookie, Bentley got hurt. Lacey was actually average. Everyone else sucked especially Florence, Coleman and Wendling and Silva after his first 2 games. And the Lions had 60 less hurries than last year thanks to the DES sucking. DE first and foremost and then some secondary help.

They need Delmas insurance in Round 2 this draft. If he actually stays healthy, two good safeties would be great this defense.

On plus side for D, giving up 6 FG compared to only 1 TD on TOs on ur side of 50 shows some ability to stop teams at important moments.

On negative side, not getting crucial stops at end of games. However, I do wonder how much of that blame lies with coaches as they became WAY too conservative on both sides of the ball when leading. They tried to protect leads and lost every time, yet never learned to change tactics and stay aggressive. They don't know how to go for the jugular, and that is a coaching problem, one that generates negativity among the players.

How much can you really blame Gunther though? Lions had safety issues with Delmas' injury and some rookie CBs along some poor vet CBs. So the CBs have to play off coverage especially because of the safeties. Nobody besides Houston can bump and stick with their man very well and Houston is just solid at it because of his catch up speed if beat.

The front four is supposed to bring pressure so we shouldn't need to be aggressive with blitzes. Blame the DEs big time there.

The Lions suck at blitzing. Tulloch, Durant, Levy, Lacey, Coleman,Silva,Carey all suck at blitzing. Delmas is decent on blitzes. So what's the point of being aggressive when it doesn't work very well.

You can't honestly say you think this team would be better off next year WITHOUT Chris Houston?

I can understand everyone else....but in my opinion, Houston and Durant need to be back. They are NOT part of the problem.

Yep. This team gets worse if they let Houston walk and draft rookie Dee Millner to be number 1 CB to pair with Bentley,Green and Ron Bartell. Down the line that could be good but in 2013 it would not be pretty.

Houston and Millner would be a nice pair with Bentley or Green as the nickel

Where is Corey Greenwood, man I am psyched for that guy.
