Game 11: Vikings @ Lions *Thanksgiving* Thread

I’m a little worried what’s going to happen when the turnover differential comes back down to reality. In recent years, even the best differentials eventually settle around +1/game by the end of the season (the Lions are currently at +9 overall, +2.25/game). There have been some tremendous turnover advantages so far to start the season, but history has shown that it’s not sustainable. It’s going to level off at some point, how the Lions handle it should give us an idea of how good they really are.

I’m sure they can, but they won’t keep pace with the +2 or +3 games they’ve had so far. They’re off to a hot start and I can’t even call it luck, they’ve had legit takeaways, but be prepared for some 0 or negative turnover games. If they can win without a big turnover advantage, they’re the real deal.

Looking back on what I said in the last Minnesota game thread, here's the turnover differentials since:

Carolina -1
New Orleans -2
Pittsburgh +1
Green Bay -1
Cleveland +1
Chicago 0
Minnesota -2

They've fallen to +5 overall or +0.45/game.

I knew the turnover advantage wasn't sustainable, but I didn't think they'd be free falling back to reality this fast. I didn't want to believe it was just smoke and mirrors early on, but the turnovers sort of hinted at this. We haven't seen many of those clutch takeaways lately, not having that advantage hurts them.

Stafford getting strip sacked is a bad play on Stafford? Lol. No it isn't btw. It's a good play by the defense. And he threw that INT late when he was hurt. Clue in...lol. Stafford wasn't the reason why we lost. Sure, he didn't have a good game but our defense is a fkn joke!!!! We were gashed on the ground and by a 3rd string QB.

Nope but not getting the ball to Abdullah on a handoff is on him. That is a Stafford fumble. Need to get it centered on the rb, not on the hip.

Give me one player that contributed more to the loss than Stafford.

Ball was put on the hip because Abdullah looked early. Borderline tho....

Give you one player? No need. I'll give you 11 players and they all play defense lol. I'll play along though....Case Keenum and that's fkn embarrassing lol.

So a group of 11 may have made more mistakes then 1 guy. Sweet.

What was embarrassing about Keenum? Avoiding blitzes, pin point accuracy on pressure throws, great decision making?

I get Keenum doesn't have the big name, so he can't be good, but the kid flat out played better, and has for a number of games. But to cheerleaders the name on the back means more then the play on the field.

Thanks for making my point, retard lol. Keenum destroyed our defense. A shit defense at that and Stafford went up against an ELITE defense. Had a bad day but still somewhat produced. You look like a fkn idiot right now lol.

Keenum might be a one season wonder, but he and his team are very likely the only thing standing between the Eagles and next year's Superbowl. The Vikings also have a very long history of finding and starting obscure QBs who destroyed the Lions.

Lol, did i miss case keenum threading needles? His one touchdown pass was pretty impressive. But most of his passes were just short safe throws to dudes who had noone around them. Also there's no debate about case keenum and matt stafford. gtfo.

Lol, one has a top 5 defense and running game while the other has the 19th and 28th. It's not hard to figure out here. I say top five defense because they are 11th in yards while 4th in points against.

At least he hit the ones with dudes no one around them. That was a big difference in the game.

Both QBs faced similar pressure, had the same windows, keenum was just better yesterday.

From PFF.
QB CASE KEENUM, 85.2 OVERALL GRADE
While his counterpart on the Detroit sideline struggled with accuracy, Keenum continued to confound those waiting to see him falter and turn control of the offense over to Teddy Bridgewater. Keenum was on point and superb at managing pressure and evading sacks to keep the Vikings? offense on schedule. Keenum?s willingness to stand in against pressure saw him pick up a touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph on a play he got hit on, helping boost his passer rating under pressure on the day to 106.6, his third game with a passer rating over 100 under pressure this season.

Uhhuh....yep. Keep piling on bro. You're making my point for me over and over again lol. I sure wish Stafford could face our weak anemic defense week in and week out? He'd throw up 400+ yds and 4 TDs weekly....

The entire defense, so there's 11 for ya. Then there's Caldwell, Cooter, and Austin for not having their team ready to play for the 3rd week in a row

Not in public. And according to just about everyone.

Buzzzzzzz!!! Wrong!!!! Nothing wrong with calling out teammates to get the job done. That's what leaders do. When Aaron Rodgers does it he's a fkn hero lol. Puts players on notice to step their game up...

Slay is not AR. And makes his own mistakes.. Like that offside penalty.

He isn't?!?! You don't say??? Slay is a fkn leader on this team and has every right to call out teammates....

Not when you're messing up just like the rest of the team. He called others out but not himself.

Whatever. He's the best defender on that team. I don't think he was excluding himself from his comments....

Yeah he was..

Slay called himself ?an all-the-way turned-up guy? and said the team needs more of the same from others on the roster.
?I don?t know, man,? Slay said, via the Detroit Free-Press. ?I ain?t everybody. Everybody different. Everybody wired different. So I don?t know how to change that. They?ve got to have in in their heart and their desire. Like, I love this game. ? Everybody?s doing it for their family mostly. So you?re going out here to slack off for your family, man? You?re a prime example of your family. I don?t want my son or nobody see me out there half-assing.?

I've seen Slay "half-assing" it. He's not above reproach.
