yeah, bring in a pitcher that has given up runs in 6 out of his last 7 appearances, because we must have the l/r matchup. First batter, a 5 pitch walk. 2nd batter, a 5 pitch walk. Third batter? We got awfully lucky.

That stat is comparing just shortstops. 29th out of 35. It also takes in account the difficulty of individual plays.

Statcast Outs Above Average Leaderboard This is a good global stat, and he ranks 29 out of 35 shortstops this season.

25 million for how many more years (it’s about 18% of our team payroll)? Are his defensive stats this year really that high? The last time I looked, several of them were below league average this season. I’m in the gym, so I don’t have great access to defensive stats atm.

Blind squirrels do something right, too. If he didn’t have such a large contract, he would probably be dfa’ed.

His ops with bases empty: .369. Ops with a runner on first: .253. That is almost the definition of a black hole. Parker Meadows has much higher ops in both, one in the .400s, one in the .500s.

38 at bats, not 46 at bats. One walk, so on base percentage isn’t significantly different. Of course, 40 at bats now, and down to .375.

Take a look at his performance with a runner on first this year (before today). 35 plate appearances, 4 singles, 10 strikeouts, 8 gidp. His risp numbers are unfortunately an extremely small sample size, given our current offense.

JB is an ego without a lot of brain matter attached. Has anyone seen any sign of him actually addressing his poor hitting in any practical manner?

Manning probably coming up again for the doubleheader. It has to be tough to have that irregular a schedule.

Double play ball from Faedo, please. Something be needs to pick it up for Olson.

In the gym on a machine with no view with mlb channel on. Tigers just went down 1-2-3, and Benetti and Monroe just talked the entire inning away about Baez’ family connections, without mentioning what happened to the next two batters. Keep it grounded, guys.

Not really. The Mize start was pretty bad. The other ones could all have been wins if we had any offense at all.

Nice postgame show, too. Less than a minute of content, coupled with more than 10 minutes of commercials.

He didn't get much of a lead at 2nd, though no one was covering and there were two outs and a 3-2 count. He should have been off and running with the pitch. He got the green light from Cora, who usually gives the green light with results like this. He was out by more than a step.

Varsho home run, Toronto up 3-1 now.

Game tied now, Kelly thrown out at the plate trying to get in from 2nd on a single; it wasn't close.

2 base on balls and a double play, so no perfect game, at least.
