1887 World Series (Detroit wins!)

Supposed to have been a monster team from that 19th century era.
Called the "Big Four" Dan Brouthers, Sam Thompson, Hardy Richardson, and iirc Ned Hanlon.
Deacon White was just elected to the HOF. Charlie Bennett the old catcher, the Tigers played in Bennett Park named for him, lost his legs in a train/trolley accident.
Did you or anyone read about those pitchers in that Championship series; Lady Baldwin won 42 games the year before, Pete Conway won 30 games the year after, and Pretzels Getzien won 29 games in 1887.

The Wolverines were in the National League. Not the same "oomph" to me.

And they played in NY, Pittsburgh, Philly, Brooklyn, Boston, Washington and Baltimore and when Detroit clinched the series, they still played 2 more. Awesome.
