2013-14 season prediction thread

The Lions have just as much talent as anyone in the NFC other than San Fran IMO. Balt/NYG/Dal/Cin/TB at home is a good thing.

Week 1 and Week 4 are huge though with the Vikings and Bears at home. If they are making the playoffs, they need to win those games. They have enough talent to beat both of those teams just have to execute.

Do you really think that the Lions have as much talent as any team in the NFC besides SF?? IF that is the case (and it isn't) the entire coaching staff should be fired immediately!!!

Teams in the NFC that I think are definitely better than the Lions

ATL
N.O.
SF
Seattle
GB
Bears
Redskins

Teams in the NFC that are probably better than the Lions

NYG
Dallas
MN

Teams that are similar

Carolina
TB
Rams
Eagles (wild card due to new offensive system)

Teams that the Lions are probably better than

AZ

There is not one team in the NFC that I can say with confidence that the Lions are superior....not even AZ.

U realize chicago has a new coaching staff from the cfl? Seattle has a percy harvin with an injury. Washington has griffin coming off one. Green bay does have rodgers but lost both starting wrs

Seattle has the same WR corps as last year with the addition of Harvin so anything out of Harvin will be a bonus.

Griffin is coming back from an injury but it appears that he is already 100% and now he has a year of experience under his belt.

GB..I assume that you are talking about Jennings and Driver. Jennings had 36 catches (5th on the team) and Diver had 8 (10th)....they will not be missed in that offense.

As far as the Bears....it is true that they have a new coaching staff. I have no idea how that will impact their team but I do know that they have a far superior defense and an offense that is pretty much equal to the Lions.

A second time, since DSF started, I agree with Tom. Excellent points.

They didn't because of injuries(Best, Delmas, WRS) last year and were still missing pieces (RB, Safety, second/nickel CB). And they added more talent this year with the DEs, Quin and Bush. And -16 turnover differential killed us and that was some players at times not coaching.

The talent is there, the coaching is there, put it all together. This team matches up talent wise with anyone. Especially within the division. Not to stop killing themselves with turnovers in order to get at least 3-3 again.

Need a good start.

I do think were more talented than last year....but then again we only won 4 games last year so that's not saying much. If the new look oline, dline and secondary don't improve on last year than we could easily be looking at 4-6 wins again. If they all are vastly improved I see maybe 8 or 9 wins. Thats a big if so I chose 7-9.

They had 10 win starting talent in 2012 but not 10 win depth. And some talented players at key times had some boneheaded turnovers.

They added more talent and depth for 2013. 10 less turnovers allowed and 10 more forced fixes alot of close games towards the Lions win column.

Another year like 2012 though and heads will roll. Do or die for this era of Lions football.

But they finished poorly. I know, it was because of injuries ;-) but doesn't this years team have the same injury concerns? Isn't most of are secondary out with scrapes and bruises?

No. Delmas is healthier than he was last year but on a plan to work him, we have Quin, Houston,Slay and Bentley are healthy and Bartell is back. The 5th/6th string Greenwood/Green are hurt with hamstring injuries.

Explosive RB for more than 0 games in Bush.

I agree with one thing...if the Lions have 10 fewer turnovers and force 10 more on the defensive side they will be a lot better than 4-12!

Don't forget Fox. He's the all-pro sleeper.

I'm not crying over losing Gosder replaced by him or Hilliard. Let them play it out. We'll find out very soon. Brian Robison/Everson Griffen first up.

Fox has improved drastically. LeShoure will get 1500 yards behind this dude.

They match up well with most of the teams in the NFC imo. Health is the key..
