2013-14 season prediction thread

it is bs. Baltimore lost half their team to injury last year and won the superbowl. Depth has been a major issue and its one of the main reasons ive hated mayhew. That's what poor draft after poor draft gets you.

Ravens -picking a team that wins the fn Super Bowl...lmfao. Only you!!

The Lions were decimated with injuries last year. Not every team can recover like the Ravens did. Nobody gave them a fn chance last year. Flacco played out of his mind during the playoffs last year and he's fn dogshit....sorry, but its true. He did his best Troy Aikman impersonation ever. A lot of luck fell the Ravens way last year.

They won in the regular season too. ...with a lot of their back ups playing. Both corners, ed reed, ray lewis....all out. Just showing that the injury argument is dumb. Good teams win regardless.

T sizzle out for most of the year too. Ozzie Newsome is a draft god though. I'll settle for a few Seattle like drafts where we actually draft guys who will play. That being said I'm high on this years draft I think we got some guys who will make an impact right away.

Teams like Balt have starters for years so their backups can develop and step in when needed. We could barley field a team of starters let alone having quality backups. This team this year is one of the first teams in a long time that has young talent in backup spots (DE, DB, WR, OL even RB). Shit you rip on Wendling starting then act confused that we couldn't hold a lead, it was a miracle we could even get a lead with some of the guys we were playing.

I rip on wendling not cause of wendling....cause mayhew is the dumbass that put us in that situation. He viewed 5th string WRs coming off a major knee injury as more important than picking up a starters like a Safety last off season. Sound dumb doesn't it? I agree with cheeno...this is the first draft in awhile im excited to actually see the players on the field cause they should get a lot of playtime and contribute. Which is also why we kid that it was Xanders draft....cause it was totally off kilter than anything Mayhew typicaly does...you know....draft guys that contribute.

And by no means was I confused last year...I correctly called a 4 win season after week 4 (I can find it in a thread if you need me to lol). I knew we sucked ass and had no depth....cause ive been saying it for years.

The injury argument isnt dumb though. The Ravens had a magical run at the end that raerely ever happens. To use them as an example makes no sense. Players get hurt snd teams get burnt on it....it happens. Im not daying the Lions are a championship team but when a majority of your starters fall, you're fucked....thsts the bottomline

True. Because no one saw the Ravens winning the SB. They barely got in, and probably shouldn't have but teams in the AFC faltered at the end.

They started the season 9-2 while missing most of their secondary. They were one of the better teams in the nfl for most of the year.

Were they missing Ray Rice. We were(Best). Were they missed Reed in those 11. Don't think so. We were (Delmas). When we clawed back to 4-4 did the Ravens lose WRs (2-4 and TE) the last 4 games and more games for WRS (2-4).

Wendling started because Delmas AND Carey AND Spievey got hurt

7-9 is my predicition, maybe 8-8, just enough to keep the job for the head coach.

Lions 11-0 in 2012 with that schedule.

Pit started Leftwich by the way. Webb played against Cincy and Pats. He got hurt during the Cowboy game. Reed did not miss time per PFF. Suggs came back by the Texans game by the way.

Delmas, Bentley, Corey Williams, Don Carey, Houston (first 2 games), Fairley(final 3). Lions were more injured on D.

Proof Ravens were much healthier. And Seattle/San Fran/Vikings/Bears got great health.

Plus on O
Burleson 11.5, Young 6 (same time as Burleson), Broyles 5(same time as Young/Burleson) and Pettigrew 4 (same time as WRs 2-4), Leshoure(2), Scheffler(1) and Best (16) and Backus 1.5 games.

What kind of drugs do you take? I know you are a rabid Lions fan and are as optomistic as they come....but come on...11-0? Have the Lions EVER started a season 11-0? The Lions were a dumpster fire last year. They would have been lucky to have 5-6 wins in their first 11 with any schedule.

Ravens had a very easy schedule. And weren't as hurt as the Lions. Both were proven.

Re-do the 2012 season I think the Lions with health could make the playoffs. Everyones hopes should be higher for 2013 with the talent Detroit has added. They'll have to earn it and reduce the turnovers by 10 and force 10 more. And get some health like the first 10 of 2011 for a 7-3 start. It's not a coincidence a healthy Lions team(even missing 2 rookies) was a very good Lions team early in 2011.

One of the biggest problems with the Lions is their lack of depth. This is because of some of the huge contracts they have and poor drafting. That has not changed. Injuries happen and they will again this year.

Your assessment that they could have made the playoffs last year if they were healthier is a HUGE stretch given they only won 4 games. Don't forget....they are 9-19 in their last 28 games. You can't tell me that all of those losses are due to them being more injured than any other teams. Swartz should have been fired after last season.

I don't believe injuries get 4 wins out of a playoff team, lkp. Maybe if you lose a QB but the guys we lost were not studs. They might have been better than the duds that started in place of them but come on..Plus, no need to keep on bringing up Best because he didn't even finish 2011. It was a no brainer he wasn't playing last season.

It's not a huge stretch. I think if they replayed the season they wouldn't have had the turnover problems to the great degree nor the 2 special team losses. We'll never know as we got new DEs and Quin now. It's not just the injuries, I think the turnovers won't be repeated. If they are then Schwart will be fired and 2 years in a row rightfully so.

And the depth for Detroit played well 2nd string Reiff, Hill, Levy, Fairley, Palmer and Don Carey, even Jonte Green. It's when we got beyond that with the Colemans/Wendlings/Silvas/Florences/injured Lacey's of the world that the Lions got in trouble. Plus missing WRS 2-4 and explosive RB at the same time is a problem for ANY team down the stretch. Packers without Nelson, Cobb, Jones and Finley in 2012 for the final 4-5 games would suck balls.

And the Lions finsihed 4-4 in 2011. And earned the playoffs. Had a decimated secondary against the Saints and again no explosive back for those last 8 in 2011.

4-12 comprised most of that 9-19 and most of that 9-19 the Lions were decimated by injuries. They can and will rebound with a fair amount of health. Bush gets rid of the no Best problem, Quin/Carey is Delmas insurance. The Lions should be a playoff team in 2013.

Anytime Pettigrew is one of your main targets you will have turnovers. Either the ball bouncing off his brick hands for a pick or him fumbling the ball away after the catch 4 times like he did last year.

Not to mention staff isn't the most accurate passer and we throw it so often. Many of his picks come from misreads where he doesn't even see the defender and hes throwing to a spot....that will continue to happen.

On the other side...we have the issue of not causing any turnovers. Now I hear they are doing a good job of that in TC with no pads on this year.....but lets see how the secondary does in an actual game. We were pathedic at causing turnovers last year.

So if we continue to give the ball up and cant ever take it back....I don't see much change from last year to this. A bunch of close games where we rely on the defense late in the game. If we start causing some turnovers this year things could be drastically different.

ps..you put best on a pedestal too much. He played a full season in 2010 and had 3.2 ypc and a whole 500 yds rushing. We were 6-10. Whats your excuse now?
