2017 Tigers and MLB Draft

Anyway, I think that the Tigers are really good at drafting. Some of their best players on team were drafted.

Tell me this was a joke, lol. We drafted JV. Anyone else we drafted that's any good?

I was putting the thread back on track. Eric Munson? He was supposed to be good.

Eric Munson was awesome.. He hit above the Mendoza line (some years :hehe:), gotta give him that.

I got Ryan Perry's autograph at a Tigers game in 2010 or 2011, can't remember. First round pick flop.

Too bad he barely fielded above it. The guy was about as agile as a:

It is the rating on the velocity before the knee surgeries. After surgeries, he has not regained those velocities. While considered to be a "power" arm, he only tops out at about 92-94 with his fastball and a high of 87 on his slider. Not sure where you saw him going #1. But yes, by many, they thought he was a high first rounders (i.e. ESPN), where I go the sites that tended to think otherwise. He ranked 4th for RHP at Baseball America if that helps.

"There are still some concerns with Faedo?s profile, of course. Some scouts don?t like his delivery, which can be a bit jerky at times."

"If Faedo can regain his old velocity and smooth out his mechanics, he?s a fairly sure bet to reach the majors in some capacity. He has the stuff to be a lockdown reliever or a solid mid-rotation starter."

There are plenty of drafted players in years past that had or exceeded Faedo's stats and not panned out. His delivery screams "Tommy John". Will he end that way? Lord knows. But as I said, yes he has upside, and if he smooths out his delivery, his ceiling is mid-Rotation.

I read it on the Bleacher Report. He was "considered" a #1 overall pick at one point but then the injuries starting piling up and both knees had to be cleaned up. I'll try and find the guy that wrote the write up on the pick. He was saying that we got a possible steal because he wasn't supposed to slip that far. Even after the injuries. Idk...

Alex Faedo played for his dad Lanny at Alonso High School in Tampa. He considered Jose Fernandez, the school's most famous baseball alumnus, a close friend and mentor.

Fernandez, an elite pitcher for the Miami Marlins, died last September in a boating accident at the age of 24.

"Without him coming into my life, I don't think I'd ever be nearly the player or the person that I am today," Faedo said. "He just showed me how to work hard and how to do things the right way."
