UDFA tracker: Detroit Lions sign another big receiver from Old Dominion.
Mlive

The Detroit Lions added nine draft picks the past three days and will round out the team's roster with another dozen or so undrafted free agents. In this space, we'll provide updates from social media about the players unofficially linked to Detroit.

► Tre Lamar, LB, Clemson
Sounds like the Lions are signing Clemson LB Tre Lemar as a UDFA.

► Ray Smith, DT, Boston College
Boston College DL Ray Smith signed with Lions.

► Jonathan Duhart, WR, Old Dominion
Looks like another Old Dominion WR for the Lions. Duhart's 6-3, 210, played at the Shrine Game. Topped 1,000 yards last season.

► Nate Becker, TE, Miami (Ohio)

► Malik Carney, DE, North Carolina
DE Malik Carney has signed with the Detroit Lions as a undrafted free-agent.

► Alex Bookser, OL, Pitt (tryout)

► Matt Nelson, DL, Iowa

► Andre Wilson, WR, UAB

UB cornerback Tatum Slack confirms via DM that he'll head to the Detroit Lions' rookie minicamp.

• TE Donald Parham, Stetson - Per The Athletic

Wisconsin guard Beau Benzschawel, who had offers from more than 20 teams, is signing with the #Lions as an undrafted free agent.

Add OT Ryan Pope to the list too. Love the Lamar pick, hopefully he can catch on at a position of need....

I'd like to see how that Pope deal compares to the other UDFA deals.

I asked on twitter with Erik Schlitt, he is looking into it.
A few minutes ago, another person tweeted that
The Buffalo QB was signed like that by the Bills.

I think it happens from time to time with someone you really like that maybe was draft-able but slid somehow.

Wisconsin G Beau Benzschawel ranked 163rd on @PFF's Big Board.

"Among guards with at least 400 offensive snaps played in 2018, Benzschawel ranked first in overall grade (89.3), tied for seventh in pass-blocking grade (88.6) and first in run-blocking grade (88.9)".

Detroit Lions sign UDFA guard Beau Benzschawel.
The Lions were among the rookie’s many suitors.

Benzschawel was a road-grader in the run game, earning 80.0+ in 3 of 4 seasons (never below 73.0).
Improved drastically in pass-blocking in 2018
2018: 88.6 pass-blocking grade
2017: 62.1 pass-blocking grade
2016: 53.7 pass-blocking grade
2015: 23.1 pass-blocking grade

With benz... that is one heck of a udfa haul.

Both him and tre were rd 3-5 projected at one point.

Don't forget Pope, who is a beefeater to end all beefeaters. If he never improves at all, it still takes three days to run around him.

Absolutely loving our UDFA haul... If even one of those guys contributes this year, that's a win.
