In that case, I'll hold my overall prediction, but will make this one.

If he gets a chance to touch the ball early in the season and show his stuff, Zach Charbonnet will be the starter by mid-season. (Not that the bar is real high to begin with.)

I just watched some film of him and he reminds me a lot of watching Tony Boles when he was at Westland John Glenn. I saw Boles first game as a freshman on JV and he was so obviously better than the boys, I told my friend that he'd be on the Varsity soon. A few games later, he was and set records. I was ecstatic when he signed with Michigan.

Greatly enjoyed the two good years he had before injuries sidelined him. Let's keep this positive and not talk about his time after Michigan.

Anyway, Charbonnet by mid-season.

After the first two weeks, the schedule is absolutely brutal, but still, if Gattis is reasonably competent, I predict we win the Big Ten this year.

We seem to finally have the coaching staff structured in a way that makes sense, with a dedicated QBC.

It all hinges on whether Gattis gels with the rest of the staff. I put the odds of that happening at 50/50. If he doesn't and we see infighting and dysfunction, we could be 8-4, losing to UW, PennSt, ND, and OSU.

This team is built on 3 top 10 and one (2018) top 25 recruiting classes. Plenty of talent and experience everywhere on the roster.

The offense is going to have to carry this team and I believe the offense is going to be awesome. WR is absolutely loaded. The fact that Tarik Black (please stay healthy) is not a starter says a lot about how good this group is. Sainristil is going to be great in the slot. The Gattis offense should be able to light up secondaries with DPJ, Nico, Black, Sainristil, Eubanks, McKeon, and Cornelius Johnson. Tons of athletes here. O-line should give Shea plenty of time to find his weapons (FINALLY!).

I agree with GoBlueInAtlanta, Charbonnet is going to be our best back and I think he's starting by no later than mid-season. I hope he starts game one.

I know there's been a good amount of positive quotes coming out about the d-line not being much of a drop off, but I'm not buying it. We heard for years how much better the o-line would be and it never really happened. I'm chalking the d-line chatter up to the same fluff we used to hear about the o-line. The interior d-line is going to need Chris Hinton and Mazi Smith to grow up in a hurry. Dwumfour can't seem to get healthy, so that's a big concern.

Ross is good, but he's not Devin Bush. There will be a slight step back there. I'm hoping Cam McGrone takes the weakside spot away from Gil. Gil is serviceable, but he's never jumped out as a guy who can dominate or be a game changer. McGrone was a 5-star for good reason. He's known for his speed and blitzing ability. Appears to be a perfect fit for Brown's D.

I'm really worried about the secondary because of Ambry being out. Vincent Gray is not quick enough to play one on one press coverage all of the time. Jaylen Kelly-Powell seems to be coming up as another option as our #2 CB, but he's a former safety so that makes me worry immediately. He isn't the fastest guy in the world. Breakdowns in the secondary of this defense lead to huge plays. Lavert Hill is awesome, but Long was our best CB and we don't have anyone with the near the same talent level replacing him. I'm hoping Brown adjusts and provides more help to the #2 CB because there is no one ready to play the style that Long did. Hoping Dax Hill can earn the spot at Nickel. He's a true freshman, but he's loaded with talent and athleticism. Not sure anyone else we have available can match his raw skills. Still, he has to refine those to stay on the field.

Metellus has one safety spot locked down, but the other is a concern. The coaches seem high on Brad Hawkins there, but Sam Webb still seems skeptical. Feels a bit like offseason fluff from the staff.

Thankfully, we have a few games before we play a team with a solid passing game. Iowa will likely be the first test for the secondary and PSU could be the first major challenge.

MTSU - W
Army - W
@Wisconsin - W. Taylor keeps it interesting, but they have no passing game.
Buttgers - W
Iowa - W. If it was at Iowa, I wouldn't be as confident.
@Illinois - W. Black Santa Claus can't save them.
@PSU - W. D is their strength, but our offense has the horses to put up enough points.
ND - L. Have a terrible feeling this is the first time our secondary leads to a loss.
@Maryland - W
MSU - W. Really great D, but their o-line is putrid.
@IU - W. Too close as usual.
OSU - L. Too many fast, talented WRs for our D to hold up against again. Our O keeps this one closer.

Pointless Bowl Game - Corporate Sponsors get the W.

my underemployed friends who do nothing but read rivals and scout all day sent around a bunch of practice notes.

Seems like the biggest areas of concern are the DL, speed at CB, and who will end up carrying the load at RB (hopefully SOMEONE will).

They had a big argument over whether Dax Hill's move to safety was a huge deal (he's a true freshman!)

I tried to reignite the dumb argument they had over Ronnie Bell last season (hey didn't one of you guys claim he'd be a solid contributor right away?) but they didn't bite.

I didn't even need practice notes to figure that out. Our CB recruiting hasn't been great the past few years. Since we signed Long and Hill in 2016, Ambry Thomas is our only recruit inside the top 150 rated players on 247.

Ambry Thomas - #90 2017
Gemon Green - #382 2018
Sammy Faustin - #592 2018 - believe he is a Safety now
Vincent Gray - #700 2018
Jalen Perry - #200 2019
DJ Turner - #400 2019
*Jalen Kelly-Powell - #250 Safety 2017

Myles Sims was #170 in 2018, but he transferred. Benjamin St. Juste was #338 in 2017. He also transferred.

Overall, that's very mediocre recruiting at CB.

What's up, GBiATL?! Good to see you, friend!

I have been putting in some work for the Official Score Prediction Threads (or Official Score Prediction Thread if osu is successful in the patent court) but this is awesome ...Prediction Prediction thread or, P2.

MTSU - W ...49-6 or something
Army - W ...play to there are 0's on the board, halftime score will be uncomfortable
@Wisconsin - W ...evidence program has progressed
NJSU - W
Iowa - W ...if Away, agree ..but at home M tends to take care of the Hawkeyes
@Illinois - W
@PSU - L ...yep, trap game with noter dame looming and in Happy Valley. fuck
ND - W ...take out the anger and beat the shit out of these fucks!
@Terrapin Station - W
MSU - W ...probably going to be 24-14 or something and annoying but Win
@IU - W
OSU - W ...finally. and I won't be there to see it

BTN - vs NEB who wins West with 9-3 overall ...W

CFB Playoff - vs Clemson ...L

Finish #3 in the nation, Clemson beats Alabama to win NC and Thor is the #1 overall pick in the draft.

Since Harbaugh hasn’t gotten over that hump I can only give him an 8-4 year. ROI is below average So, I have low expectations for someone making 9 mil/yr.

Hey Big Vic. How're Mrs. Vic and Little Vic?

------------------

The D will take a step back. The O will take a step and a half forward, showing a net gain. The computers LOVE Michigan with at least two polls showing Michigan at #1. That's a bit high, but I like the way they think (see what I did there?)

My heart says 12-0, but my head says 11-1. Oh sure, I could take the easy way out and predict 10-2, but being safe is no fun and is for those not secure in their masculinity.

So 11-1 it is.

MTSU - W - Team comes out too high with some overthrows, dropped balls, and overrun tackles, but they settle down and demolish MT, which results in
Army - W - over-confidence and a close game into the 3rd quarter. Rice shutting down Army's triple option shows inferior talent can be effective, just be disciplined Wolverines.
@Wisconsin - W - Bye week allows some rest. New QB with an amazing RB means shut down (or at least limit) the run and make the QB throw the ball.
Rutgers - W
Iowa - W - As others have mentioned, glad it's at home.
@Illinois - W
@PSU - White out. These teams have alternated home blowouts because the coaches hate each other, but that pattern ends with a 10 or less point game.
ND - Home night game. Two tough games back-to-back means we drop one of the two.
@Maryland - W
MSU - W - Great defense (-73 rushing yards vs Tulsa? Wow. Yeah, I watched it.) We may only get 73 yards rushing, but tear them up passing.
@IU - W - I had this as a trap game L last spring being between Sparty and Bucknuts, but after the D has practiced all year against the new passing offense, I see us handling them better this year.
OSU - W - We break the domination.
