THE SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The Saturday Survey offers readers the opportunity to weigh in on a relevant topic. So here is a poll to gauge the pulse of our passionate readers.
Today, we center the discussion on the Tigers? Rule 5 selection earlier this week.
As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons (4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!

The Tigers selected Akil Baddoo, an outfielder, from the Minnesota Twins as their top pick in the Rule 5 draft this week. This bucks the normal pattern of teams selecting relief pitchers.
Baddoo last played 29 games back in 2019 for the Twins high-A team and then had Tommy John surgery on his throwing arm. He bats left-handed and is considered to be speedy. His walk rate is excellent but he whiffed on 30% of the pitches he saw in A-ball.
On the other hand, the Tigers are desperate for outfielders. Baddoo is mostly a CFer, but can play all 3 positions. The question to ask is whether Christin Stewart will stay in Detroit and whether Baddoo?s requirement to stay with the team for the full year will hinder the advancement and retaining of outfielders Derek Hill and Travis Demeritte.
You make the choice.

Did the Tigers make the right decision in selecting Akil Baddoo in the Rule 5 draft?
1. Absolutely
2. Decent choice
3. Not sure
4. Disappointed
5. No

Mine would be either 1 or 2, which is/was only 12% of the responses. Has defensive tools. Draws walks and his lefthanded. Raw natural power. Certainly a better choice as a Rule 5 pickup than Reyes was.

Kind of a head scratcher. Doesn't he need to stay up with the Tigers all year? I highly doubt he will be an asset on the team due to his highest level of play was A ball.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK.
Totally Tigers

t?s time again to hear from our readers! Today is the day to let us know what you?re thinking on a selected topic.
Sunday is the one day of the week where we open up the comment parameters for you so you can get those juices flowing.
Comments on THIS DAY ONLY can be expanded to a maximum of 8 sentences.
We can?t wait to get your thoughts on the following topic:

Is the Rule 5 Draft worth it and was it advantageous for the Tigers to participate this year?

That lineup doesn't look awful...and he didn't have anyone in there that isn't a reasonable signing.
That's basically the same lineup we had this past season even if they sign the SS from Texas. You don't need to spend much to get a little better. I'm tired of Goodrum, he needs to be replaced.

Edit: RF not SS.
