2020 Dem candidate

As opposed to not liking the president for all the reasons we don?t like Trump very much for?

It would probably be great to not like the president unless the president was HRC for any other reason than the reason we don?t especially like Trump.

Let?s take the Republican runner-up Ted Cruz. He?s kind of a snarky asshole. Still I would rather dislike him for being a snarky asshole than I dislike Trump for the reasons I dislike Trump.

Ted Cruz was my first choice.

Michigan has some fans in TV writing rooms. House and Cutty, the Dharma Initiative...and then there's this guy's vision of what kind of people make it into The Good Place

Michigan (the state) is mentioned in some context in virtually every episode of West Wing, with the exception of when Juwan Howard replaces president Bartlett in a pick up basketball game, where he explains that he went to ... Duke. Opportunity missed.

Somehow, that is on par with the Dems being your "second-favorite" political party, but whatever.

the Torreys are my second favorite political party. For sure, uofm is a distant second but I still like them. My brother and I think most of my HS friends who went to uofm are the same way, we give each other friendly ribbings as rivals but root for each other's teams when we're not head-to-head.

It is and it's almost never good. President makes everyone on air force one sing the Notre Dame fight song on the eve of the ND-UofM game, everyone clearly rooting fore the Irish.

Another where some Indians are in the lobby, and one is a U of M law grad, and CJ says they can take them, "it's just an old man and a Michigan Wolverine, we can take them, we always do".

And often the state which at the time of the show was very blue, the evil senator was from Michigan who was trying to embarrass Leo, and often the governor of Michigan was called out for being a stubborn republican.

I have watched The West Wing complete series about 8 times now, one of my favorite shows ever.

Cue the traditional “My Favorite Things” reference.

This time we’ll do it in keeping with the Glee/U of M theme we have going.

Watching season one again. Mandy is the most annoying character in the history of television. They had an opportunity to get rid of her several times. Why and how she lasted through season one is as mysterious as her unexplained disappearance after that.

They changed the series concept mid first-season. The original had Rob Lowe as Josh Lyman, which is why he's featured prominently in the pilot, and the president was supposed to be rarely seen if at all, Mandy's actress was included as part of a contract with NBC/Universal, and only had her because they didn't want the White House to appear as the "old boys club" and wanted more female presence, but she had no significant duties. In this day and age her position would be the person monitoring the presidents twitter and tiktok accounts probably.

My biggest complaint is the continuity of names on the show, some names are re-used all the time, and my guess is they are names of real people involved in producing or writing the show.

All I know is that I was glad when it was discovered that her oppo-memo was leaked and she was placed on perimeter of the circle, even though it spurred the administration to make some waves. Other things I like about the show in the first season:

Josh Lyman's humility. Toby's ability to remain silent. Sam's wildly variable collection of white dress shirts. Mandy's soothing manner and vocal tone. Professor (sorry, president) Bartlet holding court.

And I just can't get past Eric Stratton as VP. I expect him to show up in a red-plaid jacket at any moment.

But I really like the show overall.
