2022 NFL Draft Strategy - Thru Week 13

If the Lions want to get a WR, it appears that there are some studs. From what I read, the top of the WR class is really deep.

Here are the combine results for the ones that participated.

https://dknation.draftkings.com/202...ight-weight-40-yard-dash-bench-press-vertical

Two guys from small schools who's results stand out to me.

Christian Watson North Dakota St. 6'4" 204lb 38.5' vertical, 4.28 40
Isaiah Weston, Northern Iowa. 6'4" 214lb. 40" vertical, 4.39 40

We'll see how the injury to Jameson Williams plays out but if hes there at 32 id take him. That George Pickens 40 time surprised me the most over the combine weekend comming from a big WR and running a 4.4 flat. Chris Olave's time blew me away 4.26...along with Garret Wilson 4.37.

Id take Pickens at 32 if Jameson is gone...but there may be several options at 32 and 34.

I need to run another update (last post was pre-playoffs), Seattle now in the mix possibly after the Wilson trade, not sure how married they are to Lock.

We?ll need a young stud WR to pair with Willis :)

Updated draft chart

Giants and Eagles are still the most suitable trade partners.

Seattle is now in play, though they'd have to give up most of their draft to move up to 2.

Atlanta has an outside shot but would probably require future picks.

Several trades with Houston can match value, but I still don't see them giving up draft capital to move up 1 spot.

1. Prepping for an interview is MUCH different than learning to read defenses.

2. You don't think the coaching staff at Liberty did everything they could to teach him to read a defense??

Listen, I'm not saying he WON'T be able to learn. It's to what degree can he get better? And, can he do it well enough to be elite?

I'm going to say no.

I wouldn't touch Willis in the first 3 rounds of this draft. I do not think he will be able to develop the ability to read defenses well enough at the NFL level to be an elite QB.

If the Lions did draft him. I'll root for the guy to be able to do that.....but I don't see it.

If a player can?t read a defense what?s the worst that can happen? Interceptions? Stafford and Lawrence both lead the league in INTs and not one person ever mentioned their inability to read a defense. Matter of fact, we call those QBs gun slingers. But when it?s a black QB, it becomes the inability to read a defense. Lol

What the fuck does race have to do with this? That?s fuckin stupid.

Reading a defense is THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT JOB A QB has. How do you not know this? It?s WAY more important than athleticism, arm strength or a 40 time.

Is that an actual scout/GM knock on him? Media "scout" knock? on Willis

I know nobody here can read a defense to be able to tell if Willis can or cannot

1st off, you don?t know shit.
B. Here is a list of his weaknesses from Walter?..which I?d say is a solid scouting service.

Weaknesses:
Can struggle as a pocket passer
Best plays come off script
Poor field vision
Often gets blinded in the pocket
Short; has a hard time seeing through the line
Must get better at reading defenses
Must get better at working through progressions
Too often stares down primary read
Too often predetermines his passes - could be scheme related
Footwork needs to improve
Throws flatfooted too often
Poor awareness
Doesn't anticipate
Has to see it open

Lol. You tell me if that sounds like a quarterback you want to use a 1st round pick on. Hey?.most people thought Tom Brady sucked as well?..so nothing is 100%.

Didn't say I could read a defense. But you are relying on this media sites that aren't really that great to make a final judgment on the guy.

Also I think reading a defense is the most coachable thing for a QB. Willis would sit a year behind Goff to learn and then 2023 we are good to go with his athleticism, arm and new knowledge from the coaches

I think he'll go before 32 though

If you can?t read a defense, wouldn?t that lead to bad decisions like interceptions? When a white QB leads the league and has int problems like Stafford and Lawrence the media considers them ?gun slangers?. When it?s a black QB, they say he can?t read a defense. I?m not meaning to single you out as your just forming an opinion of what you read. I?m pointing out the different words and ways media describes QBs. Maybe when you think about it you might agree, maybe not.

Any QB can learn how how to read NFL defensives. It takes drive, coaching and good work ethic. They do this every day, it?s not rocket science.

I want him at #2. But again, I?m no damn scout.

I'm not making his race an issue at all. If you think there is some sort of bias that's fine.....just don't bring it up to me because my opinion on any player......EVER......has absolutely nothing to do with his race.

As far as "ANY" QB can learn to read a defense.....that is completely not true. As in, factually NOT TRUE. If that were true......teams would just pick the most athletic, strongest armed QB's every year and they would all be great. Why isn't Daniel Jones good? Very athletic. Great arm. Below average QB. Mitch Trubisky? Joey Harrington? JaMarcus Russell? Ryan Leaf? Ryan Mallett?

That's like saying ANY RB can learn better vision. Or learn to hit the correct hole. Nope. They can't. Any WR can learn to run good routes. Nope.

Lots of guys who have ridiculous physical talent just fall out of the league every year. At all positions.

Is Carson Wentz any better than Taylor Heineke? Give me Heineke as our backup any day.

Yeah, a bit baffled here. Indy is probably happy they managed to get two 3rds.

Will be curious to see who they trade for, seeing rumors of either Jordan Love or Jimmy G.

With the examples you gave I?d question a lot of their work ethics and/or coaching. Maybe also physical abilities with Joey Harrington lol

RBs should be able to learn better vision. It?s their job, that?s what they do.

Professional sports is a competitive industry. If you don?t put in the work, someone will snatch your job.

I want to see where Deshawn Watson goes. I?d like to see him on a good team.

him on Indy would be nasty...assuming hes ever allowed to play again. Hou would probably never trade him to Indy....but if Hou is forced to drop him and Indy picks him up....id say they become a Super Bowl threat asap.
