2024 Election

The Republican Governor from North Dakota enters the race - Doug Burgum. Doug is not a presidential name and he looks more like an NBA assistant coach than a President - at least in this picture. He should probably start going by Douglas. Anyway, I don't know anything about him but he could still have a better chance than Pence.

He?s a tech billionaire.

I understand he mortgaged his family farm to invest seed money into a startup that hit the jackpot.

Doug Bargum.

Yes, it's not like we see their hatred on full display every day. Showing up to spew hate in places you're not wanted is a republican badge of honor these days.

Where hate = disagreeing w/ the left's radical platform. Do you have any actual examples of hate?

Presidents have all different appearances. Some not so photogenic. If that's an important attribute for a president, we'd have been denied a few decent ones over the centuries.

The real question is "is this guy related to all the other presidents, like they are all related to each other?"

Yes, going to a library and spewing hate because a drag queen is reading a book to a kid is a perfectly normal and rational thing to do.

Funny thing about that. You can go to any movie theater in America and see young children being taken to R rated movies. Why are right wingers not standing outside movie theaters protesting children being exposed to sex and violence at such a young age?

You people are nothing but a bunch of little sheep marching along with the rest of the culture war army and taking their cues from right wing media.

LOL, protesting doesn't equal hate. the funny thing is, you don't even wonder why a grown man would want to put on a dress and makeup to read books to a bunch of kids. You sound like the kind of parent that would let their kids get in a panel van with "free candy" spray painted on the side.

Funny thing about that, if a movie was about adult men dressed as women grooming and sexualizing young kids, you can be sure there would be plenty of people protesting it. Parents don't forfeit their rights to protest one thing just because they don't also protest parents making bad decisions about violence and foul language in movies. This is a really dumb argument.

You people are nothing but a bunch of little sheep marching along with the rest of the culture war army and taking their cues from right wing media.

You're defending a movement that involves perverts sexualizing young kids, doctors mutilating healthy children, teachers (not psychiatrists) helping children transition without parental knowledge or consent, books detailing and depicting sexually explicit acts and teaching about smart phone apps for finding sexual partners in elementary and middle school libraries. These things are being done to kids whose brains aren't remotely fully formed with horrendous consequences. You're taught to reflexively call anyone who opposes any of this a bigot and you think the other side are the sheep. If it wasn't so sad, it would be hilarious.

Here in blue, blue California, shockingly, not every parent is super crazy about ?pride? values being brought into schools.

What ever happened to readin? and writin? and rithmatic? (Not surprisingly, pretty much the lowest scores in the country).

I don?t know when a drag queen reading a book in a library to a little kid became ?normal.? Where are the little kids? parents?

I guess a few of them are right there with their kids. Parents look forward to it once a month.

Okay, what?eves. If that?s your thing for your own kid or kid, knock yourself out.

To be clear, I was just commenting on an observation, not making an argument for or against his candidacy. The reason I think he doesn't have much chance is because he's not that well known.

I'm open to considering him as a candidate - apparently he's had success in business and the public sector. North Dakota isn't exactly a big state, but we elected a guy who was governor of Arkansas for crying out loud - twice. And he was a known sexual predator who continued his predatory ways while in office.

If by ?isn?t exactly a big state? you mean they have as many Reps in the US HOR as they have governors (one of seven states of this nature), you?re right - it isn?t exactly a big state.

North Dakota GOP US HOR Rep Kelly Armstrong looks like he could be promising - perhaps he should throw his hat into the ring as well.

Wow, so now drag queens and trans people are the same thing. Just goes to show how ignorant you actually are.

And just like with everything else, you and the rest of the far right nut jobs know better when it comes to treating people with gender dysphoria than the actual experts in the field.

But hey, keep proving that you have every single far right talking point on speed dial just waiting for a chance to use them. Such a free thinker you are. :hehe:

the problem is not all these youths you are talking about actually have gender dysphoria. Many are just confused.

So you know better what is going on with someone than the team of mental health professionals and doctors that deal with these difficult cases?

Right wingers love pushing BS narratives that doctors are scooping up confused teenagers and cutting off body parts every chance they get. The reality is, anyone that ends up having surgery has had years of counseling, behavioral therapy, hormone therapy and other non-surgical treatments before they ever go under the knife.

Also, surveys of people who have had such surgeries show a satisfaction rate of over 99% so stop believing the BS being spoon fed to you by right wing media and religious nuts.

I am no expert, but this is certainly unbelievable.

here were the results from the first study I came across.

Results
Among transgender people, 12.9% can be classified as ?extremely dissatisfied?, 18.3% can be classified as ?dissatisfied?, 12.9% can be classified as ?slightly dissatisfied?, 7.5% as ?neutral?, 30.1% as ?slightly satisfied?, 17.2% as ?satisfied? and 1.1% as ?extremely satisfied?. Higher levels of life satisfaction were associated with higher age (??=?.15, p?<?.05), higher school education (??=?5.54, p?<?.001), and favorable self-rated health (??=?2.20, p?<?.001).

Even if you discount that study, others show the rates to be in the 90% range.

Regardless of any study, why do you think you have a right to get involved in the health care decisions of other families?

The aftershock of arresting the natural maturation of children will not hit for decades, even though they are being prepped for mutiliation now. Of the soul, if not of the body as well.

And the issue is not that "I" am getting "involved" in the "health care decisions" of other families; it's that the government, consistent with its permitting abortions to transpire, will eventually permit the mutilation of teens, mainly, even when the parents object.

I'll admit that I don't know anything about the issue. That's why I also don't think it's my place to be trying to dictate what treatments the professionals can and can't provide.

Funny how Republicans are all about keeping the government out of people's lives right up to the point where people are doing things they don't like.

I don't. But there should be some regulations in place. People can't drive until 16, drink til 21. There are good reasons for this.

"The brain finishes developing and maturing in the mid-to-late 20s. The part of the brain behind the forehead, called the prefrontal cortex, is one of the last parts to mature. This area is responsible for skills like planning, prioritizing, and making good decisions."

A "kid" deciding to cut his dick off should have a fully functioning brain before he does it :lmao:
