Is it that uncommon for a generally uncontested incumbent to not participate in nomination primaries?
RNC cancelled all of their official primary debates for 2020 and in the unofficial debates Trump didn't show up either. I don't remember before 2020, but I would think it would be a bad idea to drag your candidate down unnecessarily before the actual election.
I don't like Biden and wish he wasn't running but to get angry because you can't get angry at the things he might do during a debate that would make you angry seems like a waste of energy.
What's the definition of "generally uncontested?" He has at least one announced rival and something like 60% of Democrats don't want him to run again. Even Charlamagne tha God is roasting Dems over this.
