2024 Election

Anyone else but me question the haphazard disposal of masks over the last three years, given that COVID was such a deadly and contagious virus?

They weren't disposed of in biohazard bins, but, instead, in our own garbage, when they weren't strewn all over parking lots and hung on car mirrors.

Normally I think people should be upset up by litter but in the case of masks polluting our landscapes and oceans, I think it's a great reminder to always follow the science. By science, I mean what we're told by our preferred politicians and public health officials, not necessarily actual science - virtue signaling, fear mongering and bullying is what really saves lives.

As for used masks spreading coronavirus - everyone knows masks PREVENT coronavirus, they don't spread it.

don't ever wear a mask. they do nothing. tell all the doctors and surgeons that have been wearing them to reduce the spread of illness for decades... nope. don't work.

spartanmack proved it on the internet by being the last one to post, and therefore that's science.

Spartan also proved condoms don't work... since he was born. Science.

Good strawman. But I wear masks all the time. I was using them pretty regularly long before COVID and still use them today. In fact it was really frustrating that I couldn't get n-95 masks during COVID and that they're 50% more expensive now that I can. They work really well for the purposes I use them for.

I don't know if they don't work to reduce the spread of all illness and I'm not telling doctors or surgeons not to wear them or that they don't protect patients from the spread of illness during surgery. That's just dumb and it's even dumber to use as an argument for why everyone should wear masks for COVID when virtually every study done says they don't.

Earlier in the pandemic, the argument was "your mask protects me, and my mask protects you."

But like 60% or so of Americans are such self-absorbed pieces of shit, telling them to wear a mask to protect others is a losing argument; they don't want to protect others, they don't give a shit about anyone else, even their own parents or kids.

And they'd conflate "masks reduce the spread" with "masks don't work" because they're not 100% effective at preventing COVID...

so here we are... 3-4 times higher expected deaths, increased risk of long COVID from multiple exposures. And the damage due to COVID - to your brain, heart, lungs - increases your risk of dying from something else.

This is it. We're fucked. It's already too late to do anything about it.

Yup 0 antibodies. Everyone on the right says you have antibodies that will last forever if you had COVID. So it must be true.

Active antibodies stay present for a few months while it's then stored to the T-Cells look it up once you've had it the chances of you having anything but less serve the next time are greatly increased.

One thing the pandemic taught me is how few people can appreciate and remember anything more than a few days away.

For many that was obvious in the way they dismissed COVID from the get go, as "nothing more than the flu" or "flu kills more people each year" in March 2020.

Then after the bodies started to really pile up, and didn't stop, it was this or that, but never any consequential relationship, even though the cause and effect is quite obvious.

So, the sky may very well fall, but if it doesn't fall in a short enough time frame, most people won't know it, or care. And even as they witness people they know die, they'll shrug and assume it won't happen to them.

We (as a society) have no capacity for planning or understanding and certainly no capacity for collective action, when it's required.

Freedom!

one thing the pandemic taught me is that fear is a powerful tool for controlling stupid people, particularly those who don't want to have any personal responsibility or make decisions for themselves.

In the beginning it was 2 weeks to flatten the curve, then it was bleach your groceries, wear masks, keep your kids at home from school, then it was vaccines.

Then when data started piling up and the science indicated that none of those measures worked and many of them had severe unintended consequences that were worse than the disease and the virus really only effects a certain cohort that could have easily been protected without destroying our economy, setting children back years in development, caused untold unnecessary death through neglect and ignorance, they continue to this day to stick to double down on their failed policies or pretend they weren't followed. They still scream about how the sky is falling and the worst is yet to come, again based on no actual evidence, just a blatantly false understanding of what actually happened and the long COVID boogeyman.

Also, anyone who can look at all man has built, the advancements in technology over the past 200 years, all the disease that has been virtually wiped out, etc and say something as monumentally stupid as 'we as a society have no capacity for planning or understanding' or imply we need be socialists to beat things like COVID, is just foolish.

Does it matter buck is likely more corrupt than trump ever dream of being?

No. No it does not. Demons are in charge of plant earth

I notice you've been posting more about "demoncrats" and "demons" lately, but you're not really mentioning libdems and/or chicoms.
:hmm:
I'm confused. Are demoncrats and demons the same as libdem chicoms, are they a subset of the former, or are they a completely new thing?

Actual demons. Some democrats appear to be, at the very least, influenced by them. Others, like Hillary Clinton, IMO, are possessed by one (or more).

ah. okay, thanks for clearing that up.

I hadn't realized you were as well-versed on this topic as tigermud.

Dude, ?Democrats? and ?demons? are the same thing.

Literally, the first four letters of both words are identical.

It?s obvious.

It?s like seeing a burning bush on Mount Sinai.

Today is 5-5-2023 and Buck Fiden is still the worst president in US history. He may have sold out to the chicoms when he was VP also but none of that stuff matters.
